Decide for yourself if this place is worth staying at - I left without complaining about anything to them and then they sent me the note posted below my reply.

September 1, 2014
Dear Hidden Shores Staff & Management
As you can see I received your โ€“ letโ€™s call it a canned notice which you must really be proud of for you attached it to a blank e-mail and didnโ€™t even have the courtesy to sign it or include contact information. I have always been under the impression that staying in a RV park should be a pleasant experience and not like youโ€™re in a concentration camp. Upon reading your attachment I didnโ€™t know if I should laugh or feel sorry for you. I have owned a camper or RV for close to forty years and have stayed in parks/resorts from California to Maine to Florida to Washington and not one โ€“ I repeat - not one has charged a fee of $80 per night. For $80 per night I was under the impression I was going to be staying in a Robin Leach type of resort for rich and famous instead I was greeted with speed bumps that can remove fillings from ones teeth not to mention what it does to the RV. Next greeted by a guard at the gate house who asks far too many redundant and unassociated questions and then sends you onto the office where you are asked several more. The staff then proceeds to make certain you signed and initialed many pages of human & pet regulations plus takes another check list out to inspect ones RV to make certain it meets your standards โ€“ all this even after you required me send a picture of my rig prior to โ€œgrantingโ€ me a reservation! All this checking and you have rigs in the village far older than mine and definitely not as good looking. Once all your check lists were addressed I finally received my camp site number and directions to get there โ€“ no map of the village was offered. More speed bumps and there was my site โ€“ an un-level gravel pit with debris and cigarette butts all around. As for the rest of the โ€œVillageโ€ cell service is almost non-existent, no wifi, no pet area nor bags to pick up the poop nor a container to put it in (I wonder what the health department will say about this) - the playground โ€“ horse shoe pits โ€“ volleyball & picnic areas havenโ€™t been groomed in months plus the area had 1 over flowing trash container with flyโ€™s and mosquitoโ€™s all around. A prestigious โ€œVillageโ€ like you seem to think youโ€™re offering and yet you only have two trash containers in the entire place? You even have the nerve to suggest people take their trash home with them โ€“ when was the last time you rode in a vehicle in triple digit temperatures with a weeksโ€™ worth of garbage next to you?
Before I stay in your โ€œVillageโ€ again I will expect an apology from you for your lack of respect to your customers. Plus you will have to guarantee better amenities i.e. camp sites, trash service and a minimum fifty percent reduction in your daily rate. I also want you to know I am not ashamed of my reply and that I will be posting it on various camping web sites to let other campers know how Hidden Village treats their guests.
Jim K
PS I should really put in a claim for a new awning for I lost mine while at your facility. The price you charge you should have notified all your guests of and on coming storm on Thursday 8/21 or at least had your staff go around to assist or put up lose items at unoccupied camp sites.

To Site Holder: Jim K

When you departed your site D174 RV View Beach, you left a large amount of trash behind. As per rule #18 "you are responsible for your trash removal, either take it home with you, or put in the trash compactor behind the restaurant. Garbage left on site is not
acceptable and will incur a charge to your account". Before you will be allowed to book future reservations, you will have to acknowledge to Hidden Shores that you are aware of your mistake and will abide to Community Rules and Regulations the next time you are staying in the park.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

I have been in campgrounds where the dumpster is adjacent to the exit so you can just stop there on the way out. but as far as the first suggestion goes, would you have been happier if it was worded, "All garbage is to be put in the trash compactor behind the store or taken from the park"?. I don't question having only one trash dumpster unless it was brim full every day 24/7/365. if it is picked up daily or every other day and is adequate for that schedule I think one would be fine. more scattered around would be nicer/easier/better however.

Here's what I could gather from the park's website. It is 625 unit RV park with boat dock. My analysis is independent of the OP.
http://www.hiddenshores.com/

Here's map of property. It appears the dumpster is located in upper location on map near the water.

Here's category "garbage" under "rules and regulations" on their site:
18. GARBAGE:
Please use plastic bags with ties to eliminate odors and insects. Aluminum cans can be taken to the can bin behind the store. All garbage is to be taken from the park OR put in the trash compactor behind the store. Garbage left onsite will incur a charge to your account.

Comment: This is a very large RV park built over a large scale. It looks like it could be fun combined with a boat or watercraft.

However the lack of trash dumpsters is puzzling. The first suggestion on their own site is to pack it out. In an $80. per nite campsite? After boating activity? Hummph! The other suggestion is to take trash to the one receptacle behind the store. Which is onsiderable distance from many sites in the huge park.

Conclusion-They need to establish more trash dumps through the campground.

First, I would not assume anything, I was not their. So I do not know who is right or wrong. All I see is a written post in this forum. I do not see the actual written emails OR doc's. I would re-frame from making any type of comment.

I'll check out some of these frustration post locations if it is something I could possibly be interested in.

Regardless of the merits or demerits of the place I can say one dumpster for a 625 site RV park is not typical. Neither is their suggestion to take the trash out of the park and dispose of it elsewhere. Additionally looking at the maps, the trash is not centrally located and could be quite a walk in hot conditions part of the year. Perhaps for some it could be moved with a truck or toad, but others may not have this option.

I'm not getting into the merits of the OP's actions. But I will say Hidden Shores should install more trash dumps throughout the park. Especially given the park is attempting to charge premium rates and bills itself as a nicer RV park.

Dear Jim K,

As you mentioned that you will be posting on various sites, paragraphs would make your complaint much easier and much more likely to be read.

You also said: "Before I stay in your โ€œVillageโ€ again I will expect an apology from you for your lack of respect to your customers. Plus you will have to guarantee better amenities i.e. camp sites, trash service and a minimum fifty percent reduction in your daily rate."

You really are not that naive to believe they will respond to such a request, are you?

Dear JIm K
This is your first post here and probably your last.
You came to the site joined and did not even bother to look around enough to post in the proper place.
You left the garbage on your site! EWWWH!
You have been doing this for forty years EWWH!
I know of some resorts that pick up garbage at your site BUT apparently their rule is to take it to compactor behind restaurant. So you were either to lazy to find out where to take your garbage or to lazy to take it to the right place. Ewwh!
I think hidden shores was being nice in even thinking about allowing you back.
If the place were mine I would have charged you and never allowed you in again.

As for your other complaints. You made the choice to stay so you have no complaint. You could have left at any time.

I know you will never see this as I do not expect to see you back again.
