I39 to I57 to I55 snowbird route help. (WS south.)

I was figuring on taking a different route, but something came up which might mean I have to make miles and not venture too far off the interstate. Problem is I need a few layovers along the route prior to I55 that will be open this time of year. Safe with easy on/off (and quiet) are the key things. Any help would be appreciated.

I know there was one FT'er/snowbird that would travel this route and even knew of a Shell Station that had hookups. Hopefully I can get a few spots.

Thanks in advance.

We all always used the Lucky Lady Casino in Caruthersville, MO (just off I55) on our way south. All pull thrus for a no unhook. Restaraunt on-site. Another option is Perryville, MO KOA.

I gotta make a pitch for my hometown of Springfield, Illinois, home of the world famous "Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library". Other Lincoln stuff including hit tomb and the only house he ever owned. Anyone traveling I-55 in Illinois will have a good time in the state capitol.

All the way to I10. Mostly need overnights up north where the parks are closed now for the season, but I do appreciate any stops that are worth pulling over along the entire route.

With such limited stops, I may change plans and just beeline straight south to warm weather where parks are still open then over to I55, and save that I90/I39/I57 route for another day.

There is Cut Rock State Park just north of Rockford easy access from I39 and down near I39- I80 Starved Rock State Park. Starved Rock is closed during gun deer season, so check if that is in your window of travel.

There is a Shell station with a RV Oasis near Wenona, Illinois on I-39. I wish there were more $20/night places to park with hookups but no fancy stuff.

I'll be cutting across Wisconsin on I90 to I39 then south in a truck pulling 5'ver. Some where on I39 (maybe Rockford) would be a first night stay.

Over the years I've learnt snowbirds all have some key stopping places along the main snowbird routes.
