I couldn't get a 50amp site at Lake Glory, so I ended up at J&D Campground. We enjoyed it. Here's my review:
http://www.learntorv.com/2014/01/j-campground-catawissa-pa.html

In fact, when we go back in May, we're planning on staying at J&D.

Turns out, we stayed at Lake Glory last weekend instead of J&D (because we wanted to be able to setup a tent for the kids to sleep in). We had a good time and I'd gladly go back. We were on site #104 - it was a big corner site. It is setup as a pull-in but we liked the extra privacy of backing in. We opted not to use our sewer so that we didn't have a sewer hose running through our site. Had I not been going to the next campground directly, I would have waited to hook up to dump on Sunday. The site was close to the playground and the kids loved fishing in the lake with my sister's boyfriend.

The folks at the camp store were very friendly. My sister and her family camped with us used the shuttle. I don't know if it is always, or just because it was one of the first weekends- but the shuttle only ran until 6:30 but the park was open until 8:00. Her boyfriend ended up taking the shuttle back in the afternoon to fetch their minivan so that they could stay until close.

For me, the deciding factor between J&D vs. Lake Glory is:
1) being able to get a sewer site
2) if we want to be able to use the pool

I felt like we had more elbow room at Lake Glory than at J&D. And, the site that we were on at J&D backed up to a field and then the road- we definitely had road noise from it (jake brakes and fools honking their horns).

We love staying on site at Knoebels. So nice to walk from the camper to the park as we please. Sites in the back are much larger than the grass sites up front. They started taking new reservations on 2/5/14. Very difficult to get reservations. I'm sure all the summer weekends are already booked at this point. We check in on a Sunday and out Wednesday. Fill your water before you get there. There spigots are the slowest I have ever seen. I'm talking maybe 2 gallons a minute at most slow. This makes for a long line at check in that you can drive right past if you do not need to fill your tanks.

J& D is very close less than 5 minutes, about 2-3 miles away. But there is no shuttle bus. As I mentioned above it is the best CG in the area.
It is well run,and well maintained. Not as crowded as the Knoebels on site CG and more amenities than Lake Glory
Management is on top of things and they do enforce their rules. Which is a rare thing. We used to go there every year until my kids sort of out grew Knoebels.

Thanks for the info... I ran it across the crowd and it was voted down.. Most of the group will be under 16 so walking to and from the park was a must for all....

Will you have access to a vehicle at all? How are you getting to the CG? Parking is free you could shuttle the group back in forth pretty quickly, even if you had to make 2 trips. Knoebels is a great old fashioned park.

we will have 3 vehicles (3 sites) . . but as long as momma's happy,, we are all happy ! She likes to stay on site

Got it. There is certainly a convenience and flexibilty factor that can't be beat when staying on site.

Makes sense. Lake Glory is actually further than J&D, but it sounds like there is a shuttle. The campground at Knoebels seems like what would work best for you all. My step-brother's family gets together a in big group there each year for a long weekend.

Is there a shuttle that gets you to and from the amusement park? We will be traveling with a bunch of non driving kids!

We have stayed at both the owned campgrounds . . Lake Glory is a few miles away with a shuttle that runs to and from... It was nothing more than a big open field the last time I was there , but it as full hook up. The campground at the park has a few full hook up sites down at the very bottom ,right near the park.. i is not the area we like because it is like they are all on top of each other,,, Very tight. we like to stay in the upper area as they are larger sites.. They only have 30 amp electric with no water or sewer. We choose to stay there so the kids can walk back and forth to the park without us.

We have stayed at J and D and at the old Knoebles campground. When we had a popup the old one was fine. We stayed for several days there in the MH but the sites were tight so then we stayed outside the park and drove the car in. Knoebles Lake Glory campground is in Catawissa PA as is J and D. Some of the reviewers on rvparkreviews.com have the 2 Knoebles campgrounds mixed up are are writing reviews for both on the Elysburg one.

Hope you guys don't mind me tagging a few questions on this thread.

Were planning to book Knoebels in July very shortly, does anyone know or seen the place offer honey wagon service and are the sites electric only (any sites with water & electric?)

Thanks,
Mike
