Heading to LV in early April We've never been in that part of the country so looking for recommendations as to where to stay so we might take in some of the sights.

Thanks

Another vote for Valley of Fire. At 75 miles, a bit too far for exploring the Las Vegas strip, but well worth a couple of nights. Try to catch the ranger led atlatl demonstrations, and take a couple of hikes through the wonderful formations. Some Photos

Over the hill in Pahrump NV about 55 miles from Vegas is Lakeside Casino and RV Park. Just google it. Awesome quiet place to get away. We go there for a weekend about once a month. We use our PPA membership for 1/2 price camping.

If you are an Elks Lodge member, the North Las Vegas Lodge and the Boulder City Lodge, both have RV parking. We use the Boulder City Lodge twice a year.

Red Rock, Valley of Fire or Lake Mead.
sometimes we stop in Beatty and hang out with the wild donkeys.

Lots of good suggestions.

I have done the Circus Circus RV park twice now. It's best in terms of location IF being close to the strip is important. Safe, clean, easy, plenty of spots. Very basic. You ONLY go here for the strip. The Circus Circus casino is one of the sleaziest major casinos in town.

Sam's is pretty good as well. Also safe, clean, convenient etc... However, a little less room, less convenience if the strip is your main goal, and louder IMHO.

My pick would be Lake Mead NRA about 25 mins away. Close enough to enjoy Vegas but not too close to "smell" it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I third Valley of Fire SP and anything in the area. Hoover Dam and more. I will be staying in one of the lake view sites at Boulder Beach in April.

If you happen to be a Thousand Trails member, the RV park there is tight but passable. Wife, kids, and I spent 2 weeks there back in 2015. I'd go back.

We stayed at the Circus Circus RV Park last July. It's basically a carpark with hookups and a small pool. However you can walk to the Strip. We just about died in the July heat, but April is usually nice. If you want to walk to the Strip etc then this is the best place. The sites were pretty spread out, although it wasn't full when I was there. It's not KOA it's booked through Circus Circus now.

We've stayed at the Oasis, pricey, and under the airport flight path. We've stayed at Las Vegas RV Resort, liked it. We've stayed at Sam's Town, now the KOA, was ok, needed some updating.

Sorry I haven't been back to check this site.... busy, busy here in Surprise, AZ ... anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. Somehow LV doesn't seem like it ought to be on my bucket list, but being this close I guess it's one of those "OK, been there, done that" kind of adventures. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

We have stayed at the Oasis recently, not the cheapest place, but the location is good. It's not on the strip, but close enough to make it easy to get just about anywhere.

Must have redone something during the transition. Had been closed for a bit. IIRC spots were $100+ per night under KOA. OK maybe a little less but always seemed like a lot so we avoided it.

Now prices start at $31.
