Looking for Boondocking sites in northern California

The people on this forum are great. Looking for that nice secure site for RV camping. Sometimes the upper scale RV parks are a little stuffy, and too close together. Don't be afraid to tell me about "your secret spot". I take only pictures, and leave only footprints. Some sites I have been to, I have to clean up the trash. Not looking for the 4 wheel drive off road type of suggestions. Photos of the site would be great. Camping with Toy Hauler 34 feet.

There isn't a boondocking club in Oregon as far as I know. Usually when you go boondocking you want to get away from the crowds, not park next door to them. 🙂

A big difference between the pnw and socal is that EVERYONE in the pnw boondocks so you may not find specific groups. It's like looking for a forum for 'people who eat food':B

That said, I would try hiking and climbing forums.

DesertMax appears to be describing SE deschutes county, which is about as labyrinthian as a place could be. If so, gives us a better fix on your location (if you know it) and there are quite a few of us here who could chime in with suggestions.

Suggestion #1: If you actually want a view you're going to have to stick close to a road or even a town. For starters go to the ODOT website and search for sno-parks in your area.

BLM personnel are a known issue, but I too have never heard of NFS rangers rousting somebody who was otherwise out of the way.

Huh. I have never had trouble figuring out where I was on FS or BLM land, and only once in my life been rousted. That was in a place with sign that said 'no camping', but I took a chance because it was so remote 😉

I do agree that the modern thing where some places are NOT camp-able is kind of confusing

I grew up reading maps, so I am pretty down with, 'Ok, one hairpin turn, then a long curve, then cross a tiny creek, and then we are on public land.'
