Hello all! My son is getting married in October and will be traveling to Nashville for their honeymoon. Can anyone give me great ideas for them to see, do, eat out at etc? Also, is there areas that they should stay away from? Thank you!!

LGC - I live in the middle TN area and travel to Nashville frequently. There's plenty here for your son and his bride to enjoy. I suggest they start with the Nash Trash Tour as it's a hilarious way to see downtown Nashville. Catch a show at the old Rhyman Auditorium or at least take a tour of this original home of the Grand Ole Opry. Check out the shops, restaurants, and honky tonks just a stones throw away on "lower Broad" AKA Broadway. Visit the Country Music Hall of Fame another block over. The Union Station Hotel is expensive so might not want to stay there but go inside and see the beautiful architecture of this converted train station. The Loveless Cafรฉ is on the western edge of town but has excellent country vittles (food) and a wall full of photos of famous people that have dined their. On Wednesday evenings you can attend a live radio show in their Loveless Barn out behind the cafรฉ. If they'd like to see some of the countryside they can take a quiet drive along the Natchez Trace that starts just west of the Loveless just watch out for the many bicyclists. This is just a sampling, there's much much more to see and do in Nashville. If you'd like more info or have a specific question send me a PM.

They love country music of course but also love the outdoors, nature etc. Even would love to tour the area around Nashville.

I have called a few campgrounds and looked at some online that offer you to check availability and looks like the weekends in April are almost all booked. We don't have any really set day to leave and don't know how long we want to stay at each campground. I think we are just going to go with no reservations and see what happens. This may turn into a trip from hell.

We were pretty amazed seeing Athena in the middle of Nashville, pretty cool. That and the gardens in the Opryland Hotel, at least they were there the day before the flood.

Would reservations be needed in a Tennessee in the middle to end of April?

I would make reservations for RV park/campground in the Nashville area in April, particularly if the stay covers a weekend. April is well into the RV visitor season for the Music Valley RV parks, and weekend camping season at the state parks and COE campgrounds. Also for the campgrounds, progressively moving snowbirds will be coming through in April and May.

I wouldn't bother with restaurant reservations, unless you have some place particular in mind. Many don't even take reservations, some might do a call-ahead on the waiting list.

Memphis is also "in season" by mid-April, for the Graceland visitors.

Looking at leaving about April 20th. The plan.....
Ct. To Asheville NC all in one straight shot
Asheville to Pigeon Forge
Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga
Chattanooga to Memphis
Memphis to Nashville
Nashville to Berlin Ohio Amish country
Berlin to Ct in one straight shot

No set amount of days at each stop.

Without knowing what their likes/dislikes are, it's hard to see. Trip Advisor is a great site to find different types of things to do. Nashville is rich in music, history, art & natural beauty.

They should stay away of areas in the northwest quadrant of the city---bounded basically by I-40 west of downtown and I-65 to the north. A lot of it is industrial, a lot of it is drug-infested gang territory. Some areas to the southeast of downtown are mixed in terms of safety, there's not much there to see anyway. Generally exercise common sense as in any sizable city.
