New Mexico 'Quarantine" Requirements

We entered NM on Sunday, June 26 from Texas at US-60 in Clovis. Our destination is Arizona (Show Low) for the next couple months.

Taking our time, were arrived at an RV park between Belen and Socorro on Wednesday, July 1. Thursday afternoon after a trip to take pictures of closed gates at local attractions, I was told the new emergency order issued by the Governor of New Mexico required effective July 1, requires out of state visitors to self-quarantine for 14 days.

This applies for anyone who stops for a night in NM. The park owner offered me a 'special rate' for two weeks.

We left NM and hurried to AZ.

Anyone else heard about this, have experience?

We can cross NM on I-10 without stopping if necessary on our return, though a fuel stop at Lordsburg would be nice. Or if necessary, go north through Colorado. If things don't change/ get worse.

Thanks for that link, I've been hearing about that for months. It may not be a "set" amount, but they apparently do get more money....

And note that they get more money only if they are treating a patient on Medicare. The statement I was rebutting was, "It has also been proven that if a hospital can claim a patient is Covid they get thousands of $$$ from the government." I'm confident it was just an accidental oversight that it doesn't make the Medicare distinction, and lets it sound like the government is shelling out money to hospitals for every COVID diagnosis. :R

And the part you quote is what Snopes found when they were trying to figure out where these alleged amounts came from. It's data from a couple of years ago, before COVID, having to do with uninsured patients admitted for respiratory ailments, and they conclude:

But while these industry estimates are similar to the numbers Jensen cited, they do not represent actual Medicare payments to hospitals for COVID-19 diagnoses or treatment, or even a national average of such payments.

From the link:

"The closest match for the numbers cited by Jensen we could locate was in an April 7, 2020, article published by the health care nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation. As a starting point to estimate how much hospitals might get paid by the federal government for treating uninsured COVID-19 patients, the article used average payments for hospital admissions for similar conditions in 2017:

For less severe hospitalizations, we use the average Medicare payment for respiratory infections and inflammations with major comorbidities or complications in 2017, which was $13,297. For more severe hospitalizations, we use the average Medicare payment for a respiratory system diagnosis with ventilator support for greater than 96 hours, which was $40,218."

That's right. I hope you'll be honorable and continue through NM without spending the night unless you plan to self quarantine for 14 days.

That's not the requirement. People entering the state have to self-quarantine for the duration of their stay or 14 days, whichever is shorter. So someone passing through and stopping overnight has to self-quarantine in his RV or hotel room only for that night.

The park is limiting visitors to 575 per day, and tickets are selling out early in the day. Carlsbad Caverns NPS

As others have said - enforcement appears to be lax in the civilian community.

I would expect masks and social distancing to be more strongly enforced in the park Visitors Center and the Cave.

They are using the elevators to EXIT the caverns only. You have to walk-in.

A lot of hate going on in this thread just because I stated an opinion that others can't seem to tolerate. Too bad. Covid-19 has a 99% survival rate. Pay attention to what's going on. In AZ it is true that both Phoenix and Tucson mayors lied to CNN this week stating that our ICU's are over loaded with Covid patients. That has been proven false by the hospitals in this state. It has also been proven that if a hospital can claim a patient is Covid they get thousands of $$$ from the government. It has also been proven that people that only have one or two Covid symptoms with no Covid diagnosis are also listed as Covid positive. Can you see what's going on here? Probably not. The hospitals are padding the fiures to make a ton of money off this covid virus. All everyone talks about are spikes in cases. What does that mean? Death? In an ICU? Minor illness and taking care of it at home? Does anyone talk about the people that get better? Just this month over 3,000 patients have been released from the hospital.

The 2018 flu season saw 80,000 Americans die. Did anyone wear a mask? Close a business? Close the schools? Social Distance? It is true that the CDC recommended against wearing masks unless you were infected or caring for the sick. CDC said not to close schools, Etc. And it wasn't an election year.

All we here is a spike in cases without any further info as to the severity. It's also not mentioned that deaths are way down and dropping in number. There's a lot of information we aren't being told. There's a lot of fraud and lying going on with this disease to scare the crud out of people and it seems to be working. Have a nice day.

1st Had to be Tony's best Mexican in town

2nd Any death that tests + for Corona is listed as Covid death. You can be in hospice, test + & die = covid death. Auto accident, test + = Covid death. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw9Ci2PZKZg

3rd. The governor today announced strict mask enforcement. If you are outside walking, mask required. According to the announcement if your away from home you have to have a mask on. Fine $100,time will tell how this turns out.

Show us your proof for each of your assertions otherwise you are a bald-faced liar.
Example: Anyone can do the calculation: 135000 deaths / 3.2 million cases in the US. 4.2% death rate. Not 1%.

I'd like to see anyone try to quarantine my wife and I. I'd like to see anybody try to restrict my movements. I won't put up with it. We're in Branson, MO for a week and having a marvelous time. No masks required. Social distancing is requested but at the firework show last night no one was doing it. I love it here but will have to return to the People's Republic of Tucson and the socialist, activist mayor.

Last year in the US there were 19 million known cases of the ordinary flu. This covid bug is also going to have millions of cases so just get every one exposed to it, get herd immunity, and get it over with. It's not a death sentence, after all, as too many people think it is. It's proven that the covid numbers are highly inflated as the hospitals are getting paid thousands for every covid case they can come up with.

You need to shorten that up. That’s waaaay to much to fit on a tombstone.

In a ‘typical’ year, the 2018–2019 flu season the CDC estimates that the ‘normal’ flu was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses, more than 16.5 million medical visits, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths.

So far, and nobody who knows what they’re talking about thinks this is anywhere close to over and as of today more than 133,000 have died of it, and not just the same older, compromised or with other health complications either. Young, otherwise healthy fit people are dying of this virus.

That’s nearly 4 times the number of deaths SO FAR.

As for your idea on numbers, you’re looking at spin doctors opinions, the fact is the US is far, far behind the percentage of population that should have been tested. It’s simply not possible that numbers are “highly inflated” when only a small fraction of the population has even been tested.

Spain tried the ‘herd immunity’ idea, they reverted to lockdown when they realized they had barely reached 5% immunity but their death rates increased dramatically.

I know it’s hot in AZ but you REALLY shouldn’t have drank the Kool-Aid.
