I will be on the oregon coast for 2-3 weeks July 4-24. I will be traveling south to north. I have noted "full"days, since these sites are fairly close, I will be leaving before check out and arriving right at check-in and will have that partial day (not noted below).
Mills Casino, North Bend 1 day
florence Thousand Trails 2 days
newport Thousand Trails 3 days
pacific city Thousand Trails2 days
seaside Thousand Trails 3 days
Portland/Columbia River, unknown park 3-4 days

I would like some suggestions as must see/do's. I've got all the travel books, and info from Oregon Coast State Info... there is so much to see and do. Would like some been-there-done-that info.

I do plan on the Aquarium in Newport, and shucks I don't have my paperwork.. but there is a boat trip of the bay/river etc. think Florence? Tillamook Cheese Factory, Lewis & Clark Museum in Astoria.

I am not a hiker/biker. I walk a bit (have bum knee) I have a tow car to sightsee. I like overlooks, mueseums, some shopping (little), maybe boat trips (whale watching), Would like some great local seafood. Somewhere I heard you can get fresh crab they cook for you. Also, some local eateries or must eat here places.

Up on Columbia River, the dam, locks, the sternwheeler boat trip, Mt. Hood wineries, brew pubs.

Thanks for your comments,

Eat at Local Ocean down the street from the aquarium in Newport. Excellent food. We were there last month.

Local Ocean My pick for the world's best crab cakes. Nothing like I have ever had before.

If you are futher south I'd suggest Jerry's Jet Boats which go up the Rogue River - very beautiful, eagles, fun guides, good trip.

Florence, if your into it they have Sand Crawler or Dune Buggy rides on the dunes.

Newport you'll want to do the Aquarium and perhaps the Hatfield Marine Science Center If you like a fun Irish Pub I highly recommend Nana's Irish Pub - food was very good, great selection of beers and they know their whiskey too.

Pacific City, Pelican Pub & Brewery food & service were amazing, great view of the haystack rock, I highly recommend ordering their beer sampler.

there will be a LOT of traffic at that time of the year SO for HEAVENS SAKES be careful when you are making a left turn. going south to north to me is the bad side of the road since many of the RV parks I like are on the beach side of the highway. not saying there isn't any thing on the east side but the traffic is so heavy and not a lot of turn lanes on 101.

"Ripley's believe it or Not!" museum in Newport is a must see, at least for those of us that believe that the cheesier the attraction is, the better.

And do keep on the lookout for the "one-dollar-a-yard" beef stick operation just north of Rockaway. I doubt that there's any food value at all in those ropes-o-meat; but boy howdy are they delicious!

Depending on your interests, you might check out the Tillamook Cheese factory tour & the Tillamook Air Museum. There are also many lighthouses to see along the way, some that don't require a lot of walking to get to.

So much to see and do. I had a blast on a sand buggy ride at Florence, biggest grin I could have had for 30 bucks. The air museum at McMinville will occupy a good portion of a day. The beaches are fabulous as long as the wind dies down.

Hope you have reservations!
Do make it down to Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach and try to do it at low tide for the tide pools, may be the last chance to see the Sea Stars before the all waste away.

any and everything on the coast!!!!
In Newport, head down to the bayfront. Look at the west end for a fish market. They used to fix the BEST clam strips ---directly from fresh clams. They'd take it out of the fish market side and dip and batter and cook them. Oh, Yum.......they were awesome when I was there last (a few years ago)....hope they're still there.
Bandon, Oregon - old town is a fun place to stroll, visit, explore and eat. I honestly can't think of a thing there that you wouldn't enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚
