River status at Pismo

Thought it might be a good idea to have a running post for everyone to report on the entrance to Pismo with the river.


I hear right now it is a clear shot in as there has not been any rain. Any updates are appreciated!

Most of the time you cross without salt water. The river is fresh water, as long as you time the waves right you get no salt water.

I agree though, those in the video are not too bright. Sadly I've seen worse, that truck and trailer that crossed.......I saw a very similar set up get stuck and no one was able to pull them out. They got buried up to the doors with sand, had to be dug out when the tide dropped.

Doesn't look like we will have that problem this year........

Idiots! Every last one of them. The lack of understanding of how to drive through deep water is one thing but do they not have a clue of what salt does to a vehicle? Having to drive on salted roads is one thing. No choice. Sloshing back & forth through salty water is a death sentence for vehicles.

This year, several trucks have gotten lost in the deep dust. 😉

During the rainy season there is a lagoon that overflows and creates a river that affects the entrance to the dunes. There have been many trucks and trailers that have been washed away in the river trying to cross.

And it doesnt look like any rain anytime soon either, going to be a rough summer if this keeps up.

Local news cast said dryest year since the weather service began keeping records

And we have wild fires burning on the last day of 2013. Driest I have ever seen since the dry years in the 70's.

The weather service in San Francisco says that this is the driest calendar year on record, by far. No rain in sight through at least the first week of January.

Yeah no kidding, the last two years have been so dry. Hopefully the rains will return in 2014!
