We are planning a 5 night stay at Platte River Campground in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in late June. Is there enough to do around that area to keep the kids entertained for 5 nights?

Nights or days?

There's a LOT of nature in the area, but it's mostly daytime activities.

There's cute downtown Frankfort for nightlife, live music, beer and such. Traverse City has a lot of night time activity, not too far away.

We did the lake mi circle tour 2 years ago and spent 3 days at the park. If you enjoy the beach you can easily spend two days bumming around to the different spots and swimming. They also have streams/rivers that drain into the lake that are cool to swim in. I made it a point to hit them all on the map. The dunes are a big draw and you could spend 1/2 day checking them out and hiking around there. If I remeber correct they had nightly programs in the park which the kids attended. We were pretty busy while there and don't recall running out of things to do. The kids were about 7 and 4 at the time.

Guess it partially depends on what it takes to keep your kids entertained and how big you define "that area" as. Mine, when they were kids decades ago, were pretty good at entertaining themselves. My grandkids are the same. Last time I was at the Platte River CG, my "area" included Frankfort, Ludington, Petosky, Traverse City and the Leelanau Peninsula.
