South Carolina State Parks

We plan to go to James Island County Park to visit Fort Sumter, then head over to Table Rock State Park. Any state parks between those two that we shouldn't miss? We like biking, hiking, spacious sites, quiet, and water. Prefer state or C.O.E. parks. Thanks.

The location of Dreher Island SP is good for the trip I have in mind. Thanks for pointing it out!

We only need 30 amp but I browsed all 105 sites there and none are 50 amp. Maybe someone else can let reubenray know the answer to his question.:)

Do the state parks in SC have 50Amp setups?

Dreher Island has always been one of our favorite SC parks. The sites are large & some are water front. But often at this time of the year the water front sites are reserved well in advance. And it is probably approximately half way between James Island County Park and Table Rock State Park.

RV parking for the tour boat to Fort Sumter is located at Patriots Point so we will be there for sure. Looks like the navy museum is located right there also. Looking forward to seeing this area.

Markiemark, Petersburg Campground looks good. Thanks for that suggestion.

Wildtoad, I do plan on staying at both Table Rock SP and Devils Fork. I think we will enjoy both of these wonderful parks. It has probably been close to 25 years since we have been to Table Rock so that has been high on my list to see again. Back then we camped in our van so the sites seemed larger.:)

I think you would like Devils Fork better than Table Rock in regards to spaces.

While in Charleston and visiting Ft Sumter take a visit to Patriots Point naval museum. We personally like Lake Wateree State Park as it is just 20 miles from home. Most sites are large, asphalt, decent separation. For your trip just a bit out of the way but not too bad.

And if you haven't been there, on your way stop of an take a look at Hunting Island State Park for a future or return trip stop.

COE park on the lake, hiking/mtn biking trails on site, nice spreadout sites & great campground.
