Suggestions for places near New Orleans LA.

so I was looking at places around there and I want to be near the beach and NOLA but I'm sure that places near NOLA are not going to have waves and such from the gulf, I would need to go to the grand isle right. Anyone have suggestions of places that they have been they liked in that area?

We have camped at the French Quarter RV Park in a 5th wheel. The park is very nice and has good security, but it is not in the nicest part of town. We felt safe walking to the French Quarter, about 2 blocks away during the day, but always took an Uber back to the RV park after dark. You can run into trouble in just about any US city, but NOLA, if not the highest in crime rate, is high on the list.

One thing to consider is that if you drive in from outside of town, you will have to park and leave your vehicle somewhere where security my be in question. If you are based at French Quarter RV, your vehicle will be in a secure location.

We camp in NOLA at least once a year for over 20 years.
There is no Gulf beach at NOLA. The closest Gulf campground would be at Waveland about 1 hour drive east of NOLA. The Silver Slipper casino just to the west of the campground. The campground is 1 row with back-ins to each side. It will probably accommodate 30-40 campers. It's right on the roadway. Cross the roadway and you're on the beach. The roadway doesn't get a lot of traffic like further east on US 90. It dead ends at the casino. It's easy to find on Google Earth.
Camping near to NOLA we like Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego. We've always found it to be very clean and quiet. Water, electric, and WiFi at every site. Each campsite has a lot of room between. From BSSP into the French Quarter is a short drive.
We prefer not to stay at the campgrounds closer into the city. We did one year at the west KOA for a couple of nights until we could get into BSSP. Noisy and cramped. We've looked at the French Quarter RV Park which is closest to the French Quarter. It's no place we're interested in camping. It's pretty much under I-10. I-10 is always busy. A couple years back we visited New Orleans and stayed at Bayou Seggnette SP. Great park and easy access to the city, we were there during the off season so not many folks which made it nice.

If we don't stay near a beach we will need a pool. We're only gonna be in LA for a week and then moving along. New Orleans will proboably be the best, it's me my wife and daughter. So we're not into the party crowd I'll check that place out.

What's the plan for NOLA? We stayed at Bayou Seggnette SP and found it nice...but we aren't in the party crowd...just day trips.

Now, if your objective is to experience the incredible city of New Orleans, French Quarter RV is an excellent choice.

If your objective is beaches, I suggest one of the many RV parks near the coast from Bay St Louis, MS to Apalachicola, FL

It is about 55-60 driving miles one way from French Quarter RV to Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS

It is about 110-120 driving miles one way from French Quarter RV to Grand Isle State Park in Louisiana - a much slower, more tedious drive.

Ok this actually gives me a lot of what I was looking for, for people to live there and not go to the grand isle for beach time that makes my decision a lot easier and ill just go somewhere either in or near the city and enjoy the French quarter!

French Quarter RV park is right downtown....never been but we booked it for a few nights this summer. Not on the beach, but literally downtown. Has good reviews.
