Suggestions on traveling in Wyoming

I am going to have the month of August to travel in Wyoming and northern Colorado. I am looking for suggestions on what to see and do. I am already going to spend time in Yellowstone and Grand Teton in July. I am interested in scenic roads, nature, wildlife and great campgrounds. I love the mountains fishing and mild hiking. At this point I have a blank page. I need to end up in Salida Colorado end of August.

I have a 26' travel trailer and not comfortable with boon-docking

Looking for advice

We enjoyed Kennemer. Dug for fossils (great fun) couple of hikes in the area. CG's not great but OK

In northern Colorado, consider the Poudre Canyon and/or Red Feather Lakes area. CO 14 runs through Poudre Canyon, from north of Fort Collins all the way up to Cameron Pass, where CO 14 drops down to North Park, the area around Gould/Walden/Rand, CO. Beautiful area. While most of the campgrounds in the canyon are dry camping (with water available) USFS CG, there is Mountain Park, which has electrical available at some sites, and commons area water. Also has showers. On the west side of Cameron Pass, there is the Colorado State Forest SP, and specifically Ranger Lakes CG, which also has electric. Both areas have access to fishing and some wonderful hikes.

In the Red Feather Lakes area, there are 3 campgrounds: West Lake, Dowdy Lake, and Bellaire Lake. They all have electric hookups and common water available. Excellent fishing also in these 3 lakes as well as others in the area. Also hiking and 4x4 trails in the area. Red Feather village has basic amenities available (fuel/groceries/adult beverages).

I don't know of any specific locations... but you can go to wyoming state parks and search for parks that have the features you want.

My mistake I am not comfortable with either dry camping or boondocking. I don't have to have full hookups but I need electricity and water near by. I like quite campgrounds. I am not into the large family type places I would also like to find a place where I could stay a couple weeks at a time

Tell us a bit more. What do you consider a 'great campground'? Full hookups? Activities? Or quiet, out-of-the-way forest CGs with no amenities but plenty of nature?

Most of us would define boondocking something like, dry camping in places other than campgrounds, away from crowds and civilization... preferably away from everyone! Camping in a CG with no hookups (water, electric, sewer) is what we call 'dry camping'. (Some folks will include overnight stays in store parking lots within the 'dry camping' term, too.)

Also, do you want to stay on the paved roads or are you open to (or perhaps even looking forward to) gravel roads leading to CGs or scenery?
