Yosemite Trailer Length restrictions - Upper Pines Site 22

Excited I booked a reservation at Yosemite, however I was not paying attention and booked site 22 in upper pines for an RV not a Travel Trailer! My trailer is 25 feet long and it says max lengnth for an RV is 27ft and the maximum trailer length is not to exceed 18ft...UGH! Any advice would be great from anyone who has been to this site and tell me if this is just a manuverability issue or if the pad is not going to fit the trailer and truck pulling it. I checked out some pics online of the site and looks like it might just be a manuverablilty issue. Any advice would be much appreciated.:):)

Maximum Camping Equipment Length:
Max. Vehicle Length: 27
Fifth Wheel Maximum Length: 18
Pop up Maximum Length: 18

Bob thank you..we stayed in site 15 across from 22 and another reason I think it is really a manuverability issue that we can definitely back into with much patience! I just want to get some additional photos before cancelling and looks like I have an offer. Thanks so much!

Thank you everyone for your input and additional photos. I did get these reservarions this past Saturday at 7:00 a.m. I just selected the wrong drop down and picked RV vs. Trailer maybe thinking I would get a bigger spot...guess not. This reservation is for the week of 4th of July another reason I am not going to quickly give it up. JNCS4X4/Cindy...I am going to take you up on your offer THANK YOU! I will send you a PM.

If you decide to cancel, please pm me and let me know ahead of time when you will be cancelling, I will bring the tent and happily camp in that spot. I booked a site last year that actually said it would accommodate a 24' trailer, but there is no way in heck that I would have been able to get the trailer in there with the access limitations. Luckily, we decided to bring the tent and we fit in there just fine.

I've done the survey after booking/using the recreation.gov website and complained many times about filling in the type of rig (trailer) and length of that rig, and then given sites to choose from that won' fit our rig. You really do have to do your homework ahead of time and select from the sites that you know you can get into.

My disclaimer is that I have no independent recollection of spot 22, but I know the loop.

I think you will be ok. I have parked with a 40 foot DP in several sites in Upper Pines. Your 25 footer will easily overhang past the rear cement tire stop at least 6 feet. The wonderful camp host do not measure your unit.

As already said, you may have a challenge to back it in, but if you are good, once you are straight, you'll be fine. The photos from the above links also makes me think you will fit.

Persistence pays off when looking for camping spots in the Pines. We left Alabama with 2 nights scheduled. During our meandering our way to CA I checked at least twice a day for cancellations. We finally ended up with 5 nights in one site, without having to move about.

When we got there to check in we made someone very happy by cancelling the two night site we originally had. This was, by the way, during the month of June.

That happens to more people making reservations for Yosemite probably more then any other campground. You need to do your homework way ahead of time and make a list of all sites you can fit in. Then go on line and then reserve only sites on your list.
According to the photo of site 22, you might fit and then again you might not and then you will have to get in line and hope for a cancellation, not too much fun. Here is the photo of site 22.

I wouldn't worry and cancel as of yet. Sites are hard to come by and you're one of the lucky few. I try and camp in the Valley campgrounds at least once/twice a year and there have been plenty of sites saying I can't get in but I do (you can see my signature below). Yes, some I wouldn't attempt because of trees blocking. But first I would suggest going to Yosemitecampsites.com and Campsitephotos.com to check out the site you have booked and see if that helps. I also have an old printout that describes the site as 36x10 clear - partial shade, next to restroom, T or RV. Clear means there is nothing obstructing behind but it doesn't say how large a trailer. Your trailer will definitely fit you just don't know if there is anything obstructing you from getting in. If you want to hold onto the site for awhile I am going up mid May and can checkout the site for you and take some pics. You can also PM me so we can discuss it.

They put concrete curb-like barriers at the rear of each site, and your rear tires cannot go farther than the barrier. They are not fudging with their numbers IMO. I stayed in Lower Pines and North Pines last summer, but I rode my bike through Upper Pines and it is the same there. If your trailer sticks out into the drive you will not be allowed to stay.

Maybe you can get lucky and book something larger if you check the system every couple of days. I snagged my sites only 1 to 2 weeks before my arrival date, by being semi-diligent and checking every couple of weeks. Sunday afternoon seemed to be a good time to get sites that others had released.

If you are any good a backing you should make it in fine. If there is space to hang over the back the vehicle may also fit. Worst case you can park the vehicle one free tram stop over at Curry. If you can maneuver the trailer in the ranger will not care about length.

**The maximum allowable trailer length is always shorter than the allowable RV length (due to maneuverability). You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. If you arrive to the campground with different equipment than what you booked for, you will likely not fit, and will be turned away.**

The maximum trailer length allowed in this site is 18 feet.

That pretty much says it all.

Redo your 'search' for site with 27'....sites 20, 30 etc will accommodate 27' check availability then call and have reservation moved to larger site

Clearly you haven't booked reservation for Yosemite Valley sites lately. Today, 2/15, at 0700, reservations opened. Today, 2/15, at 0715, Yosemite reservations sold out.

OP, Upper Pines is the toughest of the valley floor CG to navigate in my opinion. North Pines is the easiest. IMO check Wawona, it is less impacted being on the South Rim and can accommodate larger TT. We get our 33' TT with little hassle.

My site said it would accommodate a 35' trailer and that was what I was towing. In my case, if there had been an RV, rather than a tent, in the site across from mine I would have never been able to get in or out. I connected with the folks in the tent and was relieved that their stay extended past my departure date.

I guess a lot depends on luck.
