Hello,

I want to build my own automatic leveling system. Does anyone know how much amps i will need for standard electric leveling jacks?
Has anyone experience with that?

Lifting the whole RV just for $2000 is great!

Have u noticed some stability problems. I read in some forums that, lifting the whole vehicle by jacks at remote places can cause a permanent deformation of the frame.

I have a Northwood 5er which has a very substantial frame. I have not noticed any stability problems using the leveling system. We have been in campsites that had one side off the ground and the wheels would turn freely. No problem. Yes I meant 12400 pounds. I modified the system to turn off the back jacks with a push button, so when I use the remote to hook/unhook I use the all up/all down buttons to raise/lower the pin.

Just thinking out loud - I suppose, ideally, if you put jacks in front of your tires, and behind your tires, and then used the tongue jack on the front like normal, frame deformation would have to be pretty minimal, Especially if you are only taking some of the load off the tires so your aren't bouncing as much, or minor leveling side to side...

I also like to build things. I installed a manual leveling hydraulic system on my motor home. By the time you're done you will have moved so much, made so many parts, brackets, reinforcements, hydraulic or electric lines, anything prefabbed won't detract from satisfying your need. It's a big job.

How heavy is your RV? And are u only stabilizing it or can u lift your vehicle to change tyres for example?

Total weight is about 12400#

Yes I can lift all four wheels at once. NOT just stabilization.

Got a deal on the system at about $2000.

Your question as to one or individual hydraulic resevoirs.

Bigfoot offers both.

Thanks a lot Housted,

this is exactly i was looking for. That means my assumtions were right.

Does anyone else has examples like this?

I have the Reico Titan Ground Control System (electric) It has a 60 amp main fuse and a 40 amp fuse in both sides of each motor. Never blown one!!
See setup here --> Control setup

Works well and can lift the whole rig off the ground to service all four wheels at the same time.

Here is one such system.
I do not have any such system on my trailer but know many folks that have motorhomes which often use them or others like these. Cant remember the actual brands right now though. All of them had one motor and then used hydraulic lines to the four corners where the actual jacks were located. If I find the common ones used here I will edit this to put in links.
Here is one.
Here is another that is commonly used in motorhomes here.

Here is a Google search that may be of some help.
I see there is at least one electic leveling system there. It may be somewhat like you are thinking of making, although all the electric ones I have seen were for stabilization only and not leveling.

thanks BarneyS, i am just doing it because i like to build my own things. i have selfdesigned rc aircraft, roboters, electric lambodoors etc...

i am not familiar with the hydraulic systems (i am from europe). are they driven by just one central hydraulik motor or does the jacks have their own motors on every jack? if it's the second case it would be good to know the worst case Amps...

I doubt very much that you could build a system using that pictured component or a tongue jack system. Too much weight to lift in my opinion. That type of component is used for stabilization and not for leveling.

Why are you trying to re-invent the wheel? There are several hydraulic systems and even possibly electric systems out there now. Are you trying to do it cheaper?
Not being critical but just curious.

If this is still to less information, consider a worst case. And therefore a very heavy vehicle such as a class A motorhome
