Changing analog TV to digital flatscreen

I would like to replace my old 32" TV with a 40" digital flatscreen. Does anyone know where I can buy a TV mounting bracket that is approximately 36" wide and the two end brackets that mount on the back of the TV be approx. 22" in length? I have looked online and checked at several stores with no luck. I want this bracket to be permanent and flat to the wall and will have to find a filler as all these TV's I've looked are not high enough.I hope I am on the right site and am making sense. Thxs.

Nitpick, but it's VESA , not versa. It stands for Video Electronics Standards Association.

Do some pictures so we can see what your are working with. Like I said, I just used the existing TV base for ours, and the screen width fit inside the opening just right. Like you mentioned, it was not high enough, so I did put a piece of 4x6 under the base just for height. At the top of the opening, I had a piece of dark smoke plexiglass left over from a sun visor, so I cut that to fit above the tv in the old opening. Looks great! And, if yours is in a cabinet, there is a lot of good storage space for wiring and junk behind.

I suggest you really be concerned about the thin RV walls and whatever you build to fill your hole must be supported with something. You will not find any adapter to over come this. All of the adapters have to screw into solid walla otherwise the first big bump you hit all of the screws will just pull thru the RV THIN walls and drop your 40-inch TV to the floor...

Just saying....
All we can do for you is offer what we did in our circumstances...

You may want to contract a carpenter to build-out what you want done...

By the way we get great HDTV using our BATWING antenna pointing at the local towns that have the NATL BROADCAST TV networks. We pickup 6-36 digital channels just fine using the BATWING antenna that has the UHF DIPOLES on them... Here in the US all of these BROADCAST channels are using full mode HDTV signals.

Stained the whole thing to match. Looks pretty good, maintains the lock-in, pull-out and turn features of the old tray, and has stood up fine for 6 years plus.

I know what you mean about not finding the right bracket. Yes there are tons of brackets but not the size I want to use.I want a bracket that will cover and then some on the hole left by the old analog TV and then I will have to find some kind of filler for probably the bottom of the new flstscreen as there is a gap of about 4 inches because the 40 inch flatcreen is not tall or high enough. I think I can find something at Lowes or Home Depot to fill in this gap. I may be out of luck here but I have 3 months here in Yuma to find something or continue using my analog TV with the digital box when I am not in a cable area. I am not into installing a satellite system.

Thanks for the responses.

Actually, when I replaced our big old analog tube type set, I was thinking about building a frame for a VERSA mount of some type. Note that ours was in a overhead cabinet. To my amazement and relief, I discovered that I could just let the new LED sit on its own base, right in the cabinet floor! Had to trim the front edge of the stand so it would not stick out, then add a couple of screws through the back of the stand to keep it steady and in place. Replaced most of the original trim around the screen, and it was built in like it was made that way. Added a bit of padding and a couple to straps to keep it secure and reduce vibration. So,etimes a small board or two under the base might be needed to adjust the heightto your cabinet. What I like is that the small weight is all supported by the base.

I added a 1-inch flat board behind the TV that went across the wall. You want to at least pull a larger outside board up against the small studs inside the wall for support. Once you trim and paint it looks real nice... If you can't screw the four corners of this large backboard into the wall studs then use what is called MOLLY BOLTS that spread out on the inside of the wall to keep from being pulled through the screw hole...

40-inch TV is a pretty good size but is very light compared to the old heavy analog type TVs...

Here are a couple of ideas from GOOGLE SEARCH

As noted above the mounting hardware all attaches to the back of the TV standard mounting bolts. Read the specs on the mounts and get one that will support the weight of the mounted TV set. Anther feature you probably want to get is find a mount that tilts down as well as left to right. ALot of the LCD TVs don't do well unless you are viewing directly into the screen. You also should get the best mounting adapter that will easily disconnect if you want to remove the TV SET without removing alot of screws. My mount has a pivot bolt that uses a clip and then you just lift up on oit to remove it...

WALMART has a lot of these mounts on display...

For me the MOLLY BOLTS was best to use to mount the BACKBOARD wood as they stay attached to the wall unlike the other popular wing type mounting. The wing type will drop the spring loaded nut behind the wall if you unscrew the mounting bolts...

Wayfair.com has a very large selection of mounts. I ordered one from them and was very happy with the mount and fast delivery.

Through out the TV industry, all mounting systems are referred to as "VERSA" The size & weight of a TV determines what VERSA mounting is required as a minimum for that particular set.

Search Amazon, they have hundreds of flat wall mount brackets. :B

Any flat screen flush mount bracket (there are hundreds out there) will work. Keep in mind that all flat screen TV's have a built in standard mounting system that uses 4 screws in a square pattern 100 mm apart on the back of the TV. That's where the bracket attaches. Also, you'll have to "build out" the area behind the TV to make any of these brackets work correctly.
