How I replaced our city water inlet

Another week, another new part on the travel trailer. This week I finally got around to replacing our beat up city water inlet and was happy to have a simple fix.

The install was exactly what I expected and was fairly quick. I just zipped the 4 screws out, pried the old inlet off (with my favorite pocket knife), cleaned up the old sealant, and installed the new inlet. Below are the items I used for the install.

* New City Water Inlet
* 1/2" MIP adapter (not needed if to buy the correct inlet)
* Mineral Spirits & a rag
* Butyl tape
* 3 new hex screws
* Benchmade Griptillian folding knife (I would recommend an actual putty knife, but I was feeling lazy)
* Electric drill with 1/4" nut driver
* Channel lock pliers

Checkout our 55 second install video to see how I did it:

You have more guts than me. Powering screws into thin lightweight walls might strip easily. I would take a few seconds longer and do it by hand. The factory stripped screws in just about every attachment on my trailer.

I have the clutch on the drill cranked way down to avoid stripping anything. It might look worse than it is with the video sped up 2x's.

Did you get to check-out the one-way valve that is suppose to be close to the city water connection... Some of them are part of the water port connection I think...

This is there to keep the water from escaping the trailer when you are pumping water from the fresh water tank using the on-board water pump.

Yep, there's a check valve on the old and new one.

Thanks for checking it out! We had another video planned for a bigger project (still to come), but that fell through at the last minute. I was glad to have something go well after a frustrating weekend.

The soupiest! Gotta love the magic of double speed;) Now if I could just manage to work that fast myself my life would be a piece of cake.
