I will see if the Photo Link displays my photos in the order that I dropped them.

#1. This shows our steps set up. These are the new model that they
have available. The legs come out of the bottom, which to DW and
I saw as a greater tripping hazard than the old model which you
can see on their website. The old model has the legs slide out of
the top and could easily make the assembly stick out an additional
8 inches or more.

#2. This shows the steps in the stowed position, ready for travel. I
have removed the old steps and in their space, I installed one of
their tool boxes.

#3. This a side view of the steps out ready for camping. The handrail
is mounted on the steps and swing in with the steps, provided if
you have nothing that would sit within 33 inches of the steps.

We have several older relatives that like to visit us when we camp so
we considered this mod. My knees were replaced in '13, so these work
for me also.

The only alteration made to our DENALI before installation was
removal of the sill plate inside the door and the seven screws to
mount the steps.

I think it's more about the quality of steps than anything else. Mine are not ROCK SOLID but sure are not unstable. I'm 60 and my Dad is 83 we don't have issue with my setup.

Pull into a Rest area those steps may not be so easy to lower.

Bottom line nice to have options!!!

I'm not a fan of the Mor Ryde steps because:
1. I don't like the idea of bringing interior step inside.
2. Bringing them in will bring in water, dirt or whatever is on the
steps.
3.THe step block the doorway which impedes access to the camper.
4. Deploying the sep is no longer a simple task the Mor Ryde steps are too large and cumbersome. They do work but they are a bit too much for a simple task.

All that said the OEM steps can also stand improvement. The steps shown above wiggle bounce and move when you walk on them simply because the are unsupported and hang from the trailer.
I have 4 steps, no stool required.
Once upon a time the OEM steps where all that was available so RV'ers just put up with their flawed steps. WE used stools and supports to make the steps viable.
Now we have options and can put away those stools away.
I have Torxlift Glow Steps, which are supported and rock solid but do not have any of the Mor Ryde issues.

The moryde has a grab handle and yours doesn't. Having a grab handle can make all the difference to preventing a fall

I can definitely get more than 43", I typical have 36" when parked. The only kicker is the slot that I keep my 5th wheel is only 15' wide. I have two white lines down on the floor that I guide my 5th in and this allows me to open up the slides on both sides. If I move it over I just wouldn't be able to possibly open up my living room slide all the way which probably is not a big deal.

Just curious, how hard is it to remove the steps if need be? Is it more than pulling just a couple pins?

I never really studied them that close before. They are definitely becoming standard on a lot more units it seems nowadays

Dan, you mentioned your camper sits too close to the barn wall to use these steps. I checked and our 3 step unit would have to have 43" space to not hit anything. We have the new model steps with the legs that slide in on the back side. Should you purchase the old style steps, you would need to pull the pins and remove the legs to get that same 43".

Dan, you are right in that with the steps properly mounted with the seven screws and both legs flat on the ground, they are rock solid.

If you were to have 43" or more and decide to get them, it possibly be best if you pulled the leg pins, slide the legs out, and sit the bottom of it on a block of wood to gain the rock solid effect. The instructions mention that you can't put any weight on them without the bottom being properly supported. As far as the dirt, they also recommend that the steps be brushed off just before stowing them

That's what the outside carpet is for, keeps down the amount of dust and dirt dragged into the rig as well, less time sweeping or scrubbing = more time relaxing.

I would love to have one of those units. Only 3 problems are I wouldn't be able to drop them inside my barn without hitting the wall, they are always in the way of the opening, and they would need to be super clean before mama would let me fold them in. I bet they are rock solid though.

Cummins12V98, I haven't any way of knowing of your age or your
health, but I purchased these steps because of mine. These steps
don't move at all when someone uses them. Both of my knees have been
replaced and though they work great, it isn't thrilling to descend a
set of shaky stairs on sometimes shaky knees.

In 2000, DW and I purchased our first TT, our DENALI is our fifth.
Each has had a bit of a problem with the steps, so I have decided
that the next time I step on a diving board I would hope that the
water is the right temperature.
