LED Strip on Side of Camper

I am considering mounting a LED strip on my camper wall below the awning. Can some of you that have done this post some pics of your install?

I was hoping to put it against the rail where the awning mounts but it will be blocked by the tube when it is rolled up, and I want to be able to use the LEDS with the awning rolled up or with it out.

I think I can snake a wire through my porch light and put a switch inside to control the LEDs. if not, I will wire them to the porch light circuit. This leaves me with a dilemma of how to run the wire from the porch light up to the LEDs on the side of the camper, so that it will be protected and look, if not attractive, at least not ugly.

Any photos of installs, advice or help welcomed....

Thanks!!!!

Matt, I just installed an LED strip last weekend. It's just under the awning track and with the awning rolled up you still get quite a bit of light from it.

Picked mine up from EBAY

Very nice install Scott!

I already have a strip of LEDs. They are all weather, adhesive backed 12VDC. Will be used more for "mood" lighting under the awning, or beside the camper with awning in.

Looking to see how and where others mounted, and how to dress the wire neatly and protected during travel.

Thanks again and very nice!

mbrule,
There are numerous ways of accomplishing what you desire. I took the easy but, expensive way out. My son bought me a "starter kit" marketed by Dometic. It consists of one, 39" LED self sticking strip, a 110VAC converter, a direct 12V power control and, a remote control. When I finally got around to install it, in the same area you're thinking of, I decided to splurge and, since he worked at an RV service center at the time, I had him pick up three more "add-on" 39" strips. When all said and done, I have close to 140" of LEDs, just under the rolled up awning.

Now, when the awning is in all the way, that strip will put out very nice light, approximately 4-5' out from the side of the coach. But, if I open that awning only a foot or so, that LED strip will throw out light, as much as 35-45 feet away. And, the good part, I can sit there with the DW relaxing and, with a push of a button, can dim it way down to a very low mood light. So, I can read a book at midnight (better be alone camping though, that's fairly bright light) or, I can mood it down to just relax.

The Dometic starter kit is around $75.00 if I'm not mistaken and, each additional strip was around $22.00 each. Yep, a bit on the high side but, as stated, very versatile lights with lots of variation.

nothing that fancy, but I have rope lighting permanently mounted along the chassis right under the skirting on my TT. I just plug it in when I camp and it is good to go.

Enough to light the ground level for walking and such..
