Night Stand Shelf Wardrobe Cabinet Mod

So our Queen bed is in our rear slide. No night stands on either side. Nowhere for DW to put bottle of water, reading glasses or wine glass. DW's side of the bed was right next to her wardrobe. So we made a shelf, cut a hole in the side of the wardrobe and sunk a shelf in the opening. She lost a little room in the closet but still enough room to hang shirts on the side over the new recessed shelf.

Can someone please tell me how to adjust my settings? I'm trying to see the pic for this but it says I can't b/c of my preference settings:(

I did this same mod to my rig a couple of years back; its been great, and easy enough that anyone with basic handyman skills can do it. I don't understand why the manufacturer didn't do this in the first place.
Nice job, OP !

what's the height from the bar down to the top of your box on the inside of the closet? Still have room there to hang shirts? That's my wife's closet in ours.....I use the one at the foot of the bed.

Just curious....what is that with the "X" taped on it? The mod looks great and with the 12V USB charger it will be very good. Good work.

This is what the inside of the wardrobe looks like after the mod.

Since it is in the slide no 120 volt. However there is a 12 volt light over the bed. I may tap into that. I found a 12 volt outlet with 2 built in USB ports at Walmart that would be perfect.

yep....now that would be perfect. I'd looked at rigging something up to run a cord under the bed then plug it into the outlet on the back wall there under the window but I'm liking your idea better. Wonder what would be involved in running wires from that closet to the light fixture above the bed. I may pull that fixture and look at it.

did you height check for her wine glasses? beautiful job, I always wonder why manufacturers don't put in side tables that are usable.

Some do and some don't.

In my search for what I would consider to be the perfect RV, in my case a TT, there is no such thing as perfect. Different manufacturers have different standard and optional features, but none offer the combination that I would prefer.

looks very familiar.....just like our kz spree. I've been threatening to put some type of shelf or something there for a while. A shelf worries me back there because I'm a "flopper". Matter of time before I would rip that down. Your idea though is about perfect. I say about because it would be nice to have power in there to charge my phone so I didn't have to put it on the counter.
