Rubber roof coating

Our roof on our 97 jayco is starting to look a little worn, we bought it used privately so we don't know if it has been replaced previously but it does have a few patches on it. It does not leak and we want to make sure it doesn't start.

So i have a few questions about what we are looking to use/do.

First at the front is a piece of "tape" then behind that attached are 2-3 more pieces Im thinking they patched it? Its looks something like the the DiSeal Tape I found on Campingworld, then it goes on to the rubber roof which all in all seems to be in pretty good shape but showing signs of wear/discoloration and such. But the whole roof under the rubber membrane seems to be solid all around.

We have come up with 2 options but want to know what you guys think/recommend.

1st we were looking at the "Liquid Roof" http://www.rvliquidroof.com/rv-roof-repair.html we are thinking maybe going over the "tape at the front with Butyl Tape then covering everything with a coat of the liquid roof.
---Anybody use liquid roof and does it stick to rubber roofs/tape like the website says?

2nd we were looking at the Dicor Rubber roof coating system with the cleaner/activator and coating, again covering the "tape" with Diseal Tape or Butyle tape then going over everything with the roof coating.
----my only thing with this is will the Dicor roof coating cover the tape? as it seems more a coating than roof material?

Any ideas/thoughts/opinions are welcomed!! and thanks for any help!!

I used the same thing as rkentzel. When I got my TC the roof was wearing a bit. I cleaned it well and scraped off excess caulk around the vents and other items where they had been caulked multiple times.

Then I painted the EPDM up and over the flanges of the vents. Now I dont have to caulk them any more.

I also masked off an inch past the seam on the front and rear fiberglass cap and painted over the the seam in the front and back. Once the liquid EPDM started firming up, I pulled off the tape and I had a nice clean straight line and I dont have to caulk those seams any more.

I painted over the left and right edges. In the process a little dribbled into the gutters. I waited for it to firm up a bit - but not completely setup - and used a single edge razor to cut it and make a clean edge and cleaned off the excess. This was a little messier. I should have masked it.

Now I dont have to caulk anything on the roof.
I did the same thing. The glass caps or anything else needs to be scuffed up with 100grit sand paper. I even coated a brand new AC cover and all vents.

Okay I called jayco they said it was manufactured with a "white rubber roof" I then called liquid roof, told me i dont need a primer, but make sure its cleaned well and I have about 6-7hours after its mixed to get it finished, depending on the temp.

So now i started my shopping list, now I just need the energy to get it done. LOL

I really like the look of your roof barney!! That seems like what we want to do with ours...you said you used awesome cleaner and auto cleaner liquid...was the auto cleaner like a car wash or a degreaser?

The eternabond/liquid roof seem to the way to go.

I was looking at all the faqs on liquid roof and the only thing it says you cant use it on is Cream Colored ALPHA roofs...our roof is/was def white, but I will try to get in touch with Jayco just to make sure

I used liquid roof on a section of damaged roof. I cut out the ripped rubber and replaced the wood roofing sections. I painted on the liquid roof over the bare wood and the existing rubber roof and it turned out GREAT. The stuff is messy and sticks to ANYTHING. I wore an old dirty pair of flip flops and got some on the flip flops... 2 years later its still stuck!

I would cover all the seams with Eternabond tape and then go over the whole roof with the Liquid Roof product. I put the Eternabond tape on my 2004 trailer in 2005 and then a couple of years ago went over the whole roof, including the tape which still looked new. You can see my post about it, including pictures, here.
So far, the liquid roof is holding up well but I think it may need a re-coat in another few years just based on how it looks. I has adhered very well to the Eternabond tape.

I did the liquid roof. Worked great but you need to what brand of rubber roof you have. The rubber roof is not compatible with all brands. Take the # of the MH and call the manufacturer. They will tell you the name of the product they used. then call liquid roof. You might have to use a sealer.
Clean the roof. Use eturnabond tape on all seams. then use the liquid roof. They say to use a brush. I did around the edges then for the rest I used a 12" drywall trowel.
