Thermostat wiring delema

I have a 2012 Komfort 5th wheel with a single zone Dometic heat/cool thermostat. My complaint is that the lowest heat setting is 60 degrees. That's just too warm for overnight or short-term maintenance heating. I have found another Dometic single zone (min 40 degrees) that would appear to be a good replacement, but it comes with a plug-in connector and mine is hard wired; 8 wires soldered right into the circuit board.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? Do I need to take it to a service center?

Here's a link to what I did last year http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27482418.cfm.

It only took about 10 minutes and works great. You don't have to really worry about the fan. Most have two speeds, but just wire the one you want and put a wire nut on the other. Do you really need to be able to switch between high and low fan? I don't. The thermostat runs about $35 through Amazon, but seems better to me than anything I have seen others post on here.

I had that problem in my garage. I wanted to set the mercury switch thermostat to about 40 F and it didn't go that low. I took out all but one screw and rotated it about 20 degrees - it's 55 minimum is really 40. Now I have several pencil marks on the wall so I can choose my temperature by turning the thermostat.

Converted the oem POS thermostat to a White Rodgers thermostat was easy and only a $30 change. I also put a vertical heat only model in my garage which these you can dial down to 45deg.

It is a 3 wire thermostat. 12v+, 12v-, control wire.

You can get a kit to convert. Kit includes a new control box up in the ceiling.

Your kit could be different than mine depending on model and options.

My conversion is shown here:

I thank everyone for their help, but the photos showing the conversion to the Dometic thermostat is just the major surgery I was trying to avoid. It just shouldn't be that hard to swap one thermostat for another. Guess I'll live with mine for a couple more years.

Yes. That is exactly the one I want. Mine however is hard wired and I'm not willing to order the one you show without knowing if I can wire it or not.
By the way, I was incorrect about my current thermostat. It is an Advent ACTH11. Sorry.

I have heard that they require some special changes to allow the fan to work. it just didn't seem like a good idea.

In which case you can convert to the digital posted just above by Chris.
