With my actual weights for camping in regards to payload we are right at max, slightly below GAWR, and about 1500 below towing capability.
Once its time to purchase a new truck it will be a 3500.
Loaded halfway to GVWR you will have 2800# of pin weight, plus occupants, hitch, fuel and other stuff. If you are at GAWR you have added approx 3400# to the truck on the rear axle alone.
SOME of the extra weight will be on the front, hence my swag of 1500# (+/- 100#).
If your truck is 4WD your "official" payload may be under 2000#.
You really need more truck.
