The Andersen Ultimate 5th wheelhitch, I believe, is a very good hitch, I came within a hair of getting one when I couldn't get a picture frame adapter...but when I got the adapter, my Reese 20K fit it and I was ready to go...I can remove everything in my bed also and it will be completely empty. I believe the Andersen is lighter and that would be a plus. The picture frame adapter is about 75#, then I take my hitch apart and end up removing three pieces. a bit heavy, I believe the Andersen would have a distinct advantage when it comes to installing and removing.
Yeah, but humping over the ball to hitch and unhitch would get old. And safety chains would be a pain to deal with. It would also be hard to move a traveling companions trailer during a TV break down similar to those with a slider wedge installed.

We wanted the Reese for our 2014 Ram but they told us it wouldn't be available til mid 2014. We had the dealer get a Curt hitch and believe it or not, it has a Reese picture frame so that the Curt hitch would have something to fit into. Can't believe Reese had a picture frame that would fit our 2014 Ram but didn't have a hitch available.
The Curt hitch works well once we welded the hitch to the frame to stop the clunking! We are not going to take it out so welding it was not a problem. Hugs, Di

Let me run this by you guys and gals,
I bought a New 2014 Voltage 3200. I decided the truck I had wasn't enough. So I purchased a New 2014 3500 Ram DRW SLT. The toy hauler is ready to go ... but the truck isn't. I've waited and waited. Come to find out the 20k Reese I bought the brackets won't fit the 2014 truck.
Dodge upgraded the entire frame and suspension components, thus, having a hard time finding brackets to fit the frame for the install. Has anyone else had to go through this nightmare. I would have NEVER imagined this of all things!! go figure, I was focused on getting the trailer issues corrected over the last several weeks. NOW cant even get it off the lot.
My truck does not have the gooseneck 5th wheel package set-up like some do 14 Rams do... however, that would be an issue too. No after market brands makes brackets for it yet I'm told by the dealer . Their still working on it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Since you don't have a prep kit. Get the B&W Turn over Ball Gooseneck prep kit. It is a one pc kit and easy to install. Then get the Companion. It is now rated for 20K. You will really appreciate the high quality of the B&W components. That is the route I was going to go if I bought a 14 or 15. But now they offer the RVK 3600 that is rated for 25K and fits the factory puck system. tweety.com is a great place to buy B&W.

Again, I don't have the factory tow prep... that's the problem. Its not about the picture frame or gooseneck I don't have either prep! its a long bed NO prep. So the dealer and Reese say frame brackets are needed to install Reese hitch. Back to problem! NO ONE is sending brackets that work under the bed on the frame.

Didn't realize Ram is having the same problem as last year ( nothing for the hitch prep package) :H
I assume you have the air bags in the rear that interfere with the brackets they used in 2013 models?
You might give B&W a call or visit the site. Seems their turn over ball Companion might work.
Last MY some guys couldn't tow anything for like 6 months :E
Good Luck
