2016 Fuzion 371 too much for 2 axles

I'm browsing my local Craigslist for toy haulers and I see this 2016 Fuzion 371 with most everything we want for what looks like a pretty reasonable price. My big concern is it's 39' long, has a 16,500lb gross weight and only has 2 axles. Ive always thought once tbey went past a certain point 3 axles was a standard. Should I give this any thought or stick with a 3 axle unit?

Ooh. A bath and a half. Fancy. That makes your garage a legit guest room. That means you don't need to have the awkward "everybody poops" talk with your guests when they stay with you for the weekend.

We'll be picking up our new 5er with 20,000# GVW two axles 17.5 H rated tires which would provide 19,220 carry capasity. Of course we'll be looking at a min a 20% pin weight if fully loaded so 20,000 -4,000= 16,000 on the axles.

My 2004 Victory Lane was 14000 lbs on 2 axles. Dutchmen delivered it with 6000 lb axles and E-rated ST tires (hahahaha). After a couple of blowouts and wiggly cords, I replaced the remaining 3 tires. After a couple more blowouts and belt axles, everything between the frame and ground was replaced. 7000lb 8-bolt axles, wheels capable of 110psi and GY 614s and Dexter wet bolt and cushion equalizers with heavy duty shackles..

After that, we didn't have any suspension problems.

The walls weren't square when we traded it but that's another story.

Anyway, 2 axles can work if properly configured. However, #1 (by a long shot) was that our new toy hauler had to be a tri-axle. No regrets and no worries (after I got rid of the ST tires it came with).

Back in 2005 when we were shopping and down to the Raptor and Jayco the difference was 2 and 3 axles. After looking at the Jayco and getting the #s for the axles and tires we opted for the Raptor as I didn't feel there was enough margin and the hitch weight was high too. So I'd say check the axles and tires to make sure they are rated for it, but don't assume you need to check. I did a quick check and the Hitch Weight showed up at 3015#, make sure your truck can handle that.

This toy hauler should have G rated tires @ 4080lbs +/- each, if so that would be no problem.
