5th wheel hitch for 2014 Ram

Looking for some advice on 5th wheel hitches. My truck came factory
prepped, it is a 2014 Ram crew cab short bed. Bed is 6ft. I am hoping I will not need a slider, I noticed Heartland and others claiming the 88 degree turning radius. Would also like to get a hitch that fits right in the factory holes which I have seen, but I have not seen them with the slider option in case I need it. Anyone have experience with this? Really do not want a automatic slider. Thanks

I got a slider just in case and so far I've never had to use it. B&W makes awesome hitches.

Pulled my new fuzion 345 home yesterday with the b&w rvk3600 and sidewinder pin box. Great combination as I have about 8 inches bed rail clearance, the fuzion is maybe an inch high in the nose and I can do full lock turns and go to 90 in reverse. Only thing I'm maybe wondering about is if I should have went with with a fifth airborne sidewinder for some cushion

With the sidewinder hitch will it release tension on the trailer axles? I debated on a sidewinder and can see how it would move the trailer back easier. On my 20 k Reese I can remove the bolts to raise or lower the hitch. I'm around 6 inches from the bed rails and set level.

This is my first fifth...not sure about releasing tension on the axles?

I ordered the custom fit easy hitch with rails it fit my LML Duramax perfect on the standard bed. I though the rails where standard for all hitches. The dealers love to sell there high priced slider hitches. With today's newer RVS scallop to make the 88 degree turn. I had mine no a trial 5 day run and and was 5 inches from the cab. Make sure you get a hitch that will move from side to side it re leaves the binding on the hitch and trailer. I beleave the 16 k hitch and above will move in 4 directions.

I have a 2014 3500 megacab (6'4" bed) and am picking up our 2015 Fuzion 345 today. I also have the B&W RVK3600 hitch..I had them install a Sidewinder pinbox on the Fuzion as I did not want to risk hitting the cab in a tight turn...chose this combination because of B&W's reputation and I wanted to lock the hitch into the factory pucks. Thinking I should have maybe went with the fifth airborne sidewinder, but we will see how this does

If Superglide came out with a factory drop in for Ram (without using a PF), I likely would have went that way...it just seems that these new 4x4 trucks are so tall in the rear end that using the pic frame adapter and a superglide results in a nose high towing situation for most people...even with a pin heavy fifth...

Check into the Reese Sidewinder. Mine worked great on my 08 Ram short bed and now on my Ford.

Speaking of panties in a bunch. Glad it works for you, but for some it doesn't and that doesn't mean they are not great drivers.

The 07' Raptor that I bought new and pulled all over the country had a square front, unlike my current rig. Did I have to pay attention when pulling the Raptor in tight quarters? Absolutely. Would it hit the cab if I wasn't paying attention? Absolutely.

I get tired of listening to people get their panties in a bunch about how you cannot use a short bed truck to pull a 5er without having a slider.

So yes. Its that simple. Pay attention. Learn to drive.

"learn to drive"?? Funny....just because one uses a slider doesn't mean they don't know how to drive...where did you come up with that reasoning?? There are some short bed trucks that will need a slider, It appears your 5er has the indentations in the front cap which help one not particularly need a slider hitch..Instead of saying "learn to drive", maybe you should have stated that if one has the indentation in the front cap, they very well may not need a slider hitch...has nothing to do with "learning how to drive..
