5th wheel hitch in truck bed with bed liner

I just bought a used 2009 Dodge 3500 with a plastic badliner. It has a goose neck hook up in the bed. I have a B&M hitch for the goose neck that came out of my old truck which had no bed liner.
My question is: Should I cut the bed lined out where the hitch goes or just put it on top of bed liner.

Thanks

I have been pulling my 11,000 lb. 38' Salem around for almost 7 years with the Companion sitting right on the plastic bed liner with no problem

Assuming you mean B&W, I have mine over both a plastic liner and rubber bed mat. The instructions tell you how far down the post the ubolt needs to be, and mine still clears it. Post is in the lower hole.

Cut the bedliner out around the hitch.

I removed the bed liner before installing the hitch per hitch shop recommendation. They felt the bolt torque would be more accurate.

I have a Ram 2500 with a B&W Gooseneck Companion hitch installed by the dealer on top of the bed liner.

My bed liner is cut out where my Fifth Wheel mounting frames goes. The hitch will require a good solid torqued mounted bolts. I would be afraid you would not get the proper torque with the bed liner under the cross members.

Do not cut all the way across the bed liner just when the hitch mounting frame goes...

When I pulled my 5th wheel hitch out of the truck bed after I didn't need it anymore I laid a couple of 1x4 pieces of wood to fill the cut out and then covered everything with my full bed floor cover. Can't tell the cut outs are there...

This is how my 5th wheel hitch was installed by the dealer...
