5th wheel lingo

This will be easy.
Why does everyone call a 5th wheel camper a 5'ver or 5'er?
Im just getting into 5th wheels, and this has been bugging me.

I read it on this forum: "5" "E" "R" are right next to each other on the keyboard. Makes perfect sense to me.

"5th wheel" is how I write it and say it. The nickname "5er" or "5ver" just doesn't sound right to me.

For the same reason you see lol, brb, l8r, etc. It's just quicker and easier than typing it all out.

5er is just shorter and easier to say.

What bugs me is 5ver. You don't see the term 49er written as 49ner. Ever.

The thing that hooks the trailer to the truck is not a ball. The trailer sets (and turns) on it so they call it the 5th wheel.
