Getting ready to leave on coast to coast trip and looking to see opinions on what companies have performed well for roadside assistance or towing. I got a quote of $ 115 for Allstate coverage that was unlimited? Thanks in advance for your responses.

The batteries went bad in my F350 diesel truck. I called Good Sam and the person showed up with an hour which I felt was ok. However, I made it clear to Good Sam that I had a diesel that required a more heavy jump start than a gas engine. The person showed up with small jump start thing that simply did not have the power to start the engine. I ended up having NAPA deliver me two batteries to install. Things were good after that. Next time I'll call NAPA for a jump start...

I used Good Sam with a wheel bearing failure on I80 near Winnemucca, NV. They responded well and the problem was corrected as good as could be expected. The problem I have was the repair person over charged (scammed) me. After writing to Good Sam about the over-charge, I was reimbursed. Other than the hassle of getting my money, things worked out well.

Thanks for all the replies. I went with Good Sam for $80 something special for one year. Being first year and trip in 5ht wheel will see how it works out. Thanks again.

Broke a spring once. Tied a block between the axle and frame, and drove slow to a motel. Next day got it fixed. That and one blown tire which I changed myself are the only problems in 13 years. Suggest using infrared gun to check tire and wheel temperatures and you will see a rise in temperature before most problems.

GS Roadside Emergency Service is 0 for 2 with us....when we needed them most, they let us down and the call person was so unfamiliar with what a 5th wheel was. We are NOT renewing.....

Will Allstate come to where you are boondocking?
Some road service will not cover you off paved road.

Changing tires is one thing. When your trailer springs break, you need a flat bed truck to get your RV to get repaired.

We have to disagree with the prior post about Chinese tires... We are on our 2nd set of Sailun Tires. Have not had any problems with them at all, 2 round trips across the country, and they were still going strong, Since the 5'er sits at least a month at a time, that's the reason I change them every 3 yrs, the set on the T/V is are 5 yrs old and still going as well. As far as roadside assistance, stay away from the **** that Good Sam sells. Had lost a wheel about a month ago, on our utility trailer at 1:00 AM, while going to NC. 4 hrs. after talking to 3 different people and waiting finally called me back and told us they could have someone there at 10:00 Am. We were only a mile from the nearest exit, that had towtrucks, according the State Police Officer that stoped. I canceled that "BAD SAM" policy on the spot.

What roadside issues can a 5th wheel have? Blowouts. Get decent, non-Chinese made tires and your chances of a roadside incident are reduced to almost zero. In my six years of cris-crossing the US I've had one roadside tire issue and that was the inside dually (Bridgestones) on my truck. Been very happy with the truck tires I run on my trailers (Michelin XPS Ribs).

If you have low blood pressure, dealing with roadside assistance people will do wonders to get it up to normal. With smartphones, it really doesn't do much for you.

Even if you break down every other year, financially it's still a wash. All you really get is somebody to search the internet and call tow services close to you and see if they will agree to tow you at a discounted rate.

Like Scott above, I tend to do my own repairs, but in watching these forums, it seems Coach Net has a loyal following and fewer complaints, this could however just be due to this being a GS affiliated site.

Do a side by side comparison of the Allstate Policy vs the Good Sam Emergency Road Side policy. Important to look and compare each individual service for limitations and exclusions especially the yearly costs. Are there any geograhical differences in cities and states as to what services will be provided. i.e. AAA road side service is not uniform as you travel between states and cities.:(
