A/C question to ponder

Has anyone noticed how MH's seem to always have upwards of 5 A/C's on them? Whereas TT's and 5ers at most have 2 and cooling approx same amount of sq ft? Why do they have so many?

I just looked up a Newell Coach, as stated in there web site I checked out any unit over 43' comes with 4 roof mounted AC units, This was a used coach and this was a 45'unit and had 4 roof mounted units...But wow the web site had some very nice RV's, let me correct myself on that The web site had some very nice Pre-owned Coaches...Now this 2009 45' had a sales price of 799,000$, so yes the more you pay the more AC units you can have,,

Because they CAN. Seriously.

When you cram 30 people in there for a big assed party, you NEED the extra cooling. :B

OK, you can get a lot of heat from the engine in the rear bedroom when driving and for a few hours after stoping. When my kids were in the back bedroom watching movies while I drove we always ran the AC because it was hot. Of course we were always traveling in the summer also. I also ran the front one for my wife and I while driving. I also had the dash air on to. I don't like to be hot. I almost never ran the middle one, maybe if it was very hot. All 3 ran great on the 10K genet. or on the 50 amp when plugged in. I loved the genet it was a 3 cylinder kubota engine. 10K Onan quiet diesel. Awesome.

Could be smaller units for the more compartmentalized MHs, where each "pod" has it's own unit. Could be you are seeing tour busses that look like MHs, the body heat from 60 people would need a lot of AC.
What size MH are you talking about? Big diff between a 45' Prevost and a Road Trek 17.

Musical acts MH's have 5 and at Alpin Haus RV in Amsterdam NY along the NYS T-way, they have several MH and anywhere's from 1 to 3/h A/C units on their roofs. They are not vents based on size. But my question i: why do MH have more A/C units than TT's or 5ers?

I have read about the builders of coaches for traveling entertainers having 5 AC units. I've also read that some of these high end units need two 50 amp services. This is easy to provide when your at a stadium parking lot with all the other coaches and big rigs hauling the set. It's not too easy to come by in a campground.
I certainly disagree that MHs always have 5. It's rare.

Correction, you could easily run 3 even 4 A/C units on 50 amp service because a 50 amp service is actually 2 50 amp lines totaling 100 amps of service. ๐Ÿ™‚

Agree Roy that may be what he is seeing.

In addition a lot of the upper end Class A's have 'basement a/c' so there are no a/c's on the roof at all.

Can't imagine how big the genny would need to be ro power 5 units. You can't even run 3 at the same time with 50 amp shorepower.

I believe I could get away with one of those two windows down 55 mph models - We very seldom turn ours on... Too much camping OFF-ROAD I guess...

I rarely see motorhomes with three let alone 5 AC's. Must motorhomes that I see have two AC's.

You must be traveling in MUCH different circles than I am.

I don't remember seeing more than 3 even on road yachts that I'm sure cost close to $1M.
