Akuret tire failure

So I knew it was just a matter of time...
Driving South on I-95 in NC, I was pulled over by a State Trooper. He said he saw something wobbling under my fiver and wanted me off the highway. Upon inspection of the trailer tires, we found a grapefruit size bubble on the inner sidewall of the right front tire. Wow.
By stopping me before the China bomb blew up, he probably saved me mucho dollars. While thanking him, he commented on how nice my fiver was and he was considering an RV. I offered him a tour inside and he accepted. He was impressed, of course.
Kudos to that NC State Trooper!
Just installed a set of Maxxis last Friday, mounted and balanced. What a difference in construction between the Maxxis and OEM Akuret. Maxxis sidewall stiffness was much greater than the China junk.
BTW, they were all set at 80 psi prior to leaving that morning. The bad tire was manufactured the 6th week of 2012. The Maxxis were all manufactured 12th week of 2014 in Thailand.

I got 100K out of a set of Bridgestones on my last truck. Still had a little tread, but were getting a bit loose in the rain, so they got swapped out.

And howcum my truck tires last 50,000 miles despite curbing and pot holes?

If I were to only get 50K out of a set of tires on my truck I would be very unhappy. I get twice that and more with Michelin's and BFG's.

I'm sure you were speeding! ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure you hit a curb! ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure you were running low on pressure ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure you were overloaded on that particular tire ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure you didn't check the date codes ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the country of manufacture ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the ST in front of the tire size ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure it was the exception, rather than the rule ๐Ÿ™‚

............NOT!

That would be some trick since it was on the inside wall.

I know that, was just showing what the normal cheer leaders say.

If he did not curb it he was then going faster than 65, or hit something small on the highway. These tires just do not fail on their own! Wait a minute........

Probably used a TrailerAid Plus and overloaded the tire!

We had issues every year with trailer tires (all china bombs) before switching to Maxxiss. No problems since.
