IMO he was looking at a custom built prototype, where they probably took the time to do an extra special job, especially in the fit and finish department. They apparently have 4 prototypes that they are rotating around the winter RV shows . What they don't have yet is a production facility. I would bet the units that get built on a production line by pieceworkers will be slightly different.

judging from the comments about Alliance, I think they show how much the folks want improvement in durability and quality in the RV industry. Is Alliance going to fill that need, I am not sure. It is new and unproven, but I don't see it as that much of improvement over its competition. Vanleigh had similar responces when it came out, but it has not proven to be better than its competition. In short many people are quick to jump for anything touted to be better and improved, while in reality it is not so. caveat emptor....

I'll bet a fast food dinner deluxe that the selling price on the much drooled on Lifestyle was way, way more then any similar sized offering from Alliance or Grand Design.
Funny how many people want the build quality of a $200,000 RV and complain when they don't see it in an RV with and MSRP of $80,000. Hmm, wonder why that is?

JK, I think they are very well built. Its a carry-over from Carriage with some improvements. They built their own frames, are hung wall construction and fit and finish is excellent. I ordered this one and it will be 6 years old in March. I invested over $6k in the RV Flex Armor maintenance free forever roof knowing I plan to keep this rig. It's never been in the shop from day one. This is the first year we have NOT attended the Tampa RV Super Show. We have gone for years just for fun and always walked away feeling good about our LS fiver. Yes, there will always be trends in interiors, etc., but I want a solid foundation.

Owning a Grand Design Solitude I can confirm it is far from Luxury, built the same with the same cheap parts as most everything else. Although its advertised as "full time ready" or something I would not want to full time in it.

I suspect the OP was looking at one off prototypes built taking more care and time than units that will be built on a line by pieceworkers. I also suspect Alliance will be more of the same old mass produced, slapped together and shoved out the door product based on the owners background, just like the folks that started Grand Design had done. Get it off the ground, build up a base using creative marketing then sell out. That is Alliance's intent IMO. Time will tell.

I totally agree. Why do the creators of Alliance RV think they will earn buyers trust when they have come from companies riddled with complaints.
While I have no intentions of getting rid of by 2014, I still closely follow the market. I do not see one thing done differently or special about Alliance.

Pcm, not trying to deviate from the subject, but I see in your signature you have a Lifestyle. I recently watched a couple of short YouTube videos of Lifestyle fivers and they seem impressive. Are they as good as they look?

They are being touted as a Luxury Full Time RV. From the photos, videos and plans and specs on Face Book and their site, I do not consider them either Full Time or Luxury.

They appear to be putting large windows and few overhead cabinets. As a full time RVer, I value my cabinet space.

My wife and I went to the Tampa show. We spent 5 hours there and I bet we didn't see 1/3 of the RV's. I didn't think the prices were very good on most. 22%-27% off MSRP but not one sales person would say the price was the "Out the door" price which leads me to believe they would be adding Freight, Prep, PDI fees or a combination of those things.

I also was a little shocked with the Grand Design offerings. For all the wonderful things you hear about them, the materials really aren't any different than in any other RV. I guess it's their customer support that's better but they've been owned by Winnebago for a few years now. I wonder if it's still stellar.
