axle problem

Have a 2005 Landmark Grand Canyon 37' purchased new from dealer in 2012. Have made trips to west & NE US with no problems. Trip last month to Texas lost complete wheel.rim & hub doing damage to rv. After temporary repairs ,no problems until return trip & lost 2 grease caps. On trip to rv dealer to get estimate on body damage lost another grease cap & bearing. Has anyone else had a problem like this.

Without seeing the state of the unit, it's pretty hard to recommend spending that kind of money.

My thought is get it running and get rid of it. Maybe it's sat for 7 years, but that doesn't mean those 7 years don't count.

With all that hassle I would probably buy higher rated complete axles (8,000#) and put some disk brakes on while doing the work.

yes the trailer was 7 yrs old on dealer lot. he got stuck with it when recession hit & just let it set. the wheels were repacked before the Texas trip by a professional mechanic & I saw the work performed.
I took the unit to a trailer shop today & they found I had 3 of the 4 wheel spindles were bent. they were not dexter axles either. They are 7000# axles & unit weight 12780.My 2012 ford F350 dually & unit weighs just under 25000 with truck right at 10000. I have goodyear G614 tires so that is not an issue' I will be replacing both axles with dexters & watching my weight as it appears the axle are near their maximum.

We had similar problems on our last TT, though not quite to the extreme you have. I would also echo the question posed by fj12ryder; if that trailer sat for 7 years on a lot, the wheel hubs certainly should have been redone - at least checked. Dealers often don't do much maintenance on units they have on their lots, unfortunately.

If it has Nevr-Lube hubs, entirely possible, particularly the 42mm bearing version on 6000 pound axles.

Sounds like someone didn't do their job right. Axles are pretty straightforward and foolproof if done correctly. When the hub was lost, the axle was not damaged beyond repair?
