Battery over heats when camper is on shore power.

Most likely a shorted cell. Pull the battery and take it somewhere to have it load tested. Leaving it plugged in leaves you open to a battery explosion. Get it checked right away. Could be very dangerous.

Yup, either the battery is shorted out or the converter is putting out too much voltage.

Have the battery checked. Most likely it's an internal short in the battery but it's possible it's a converter that's putting way too much juice in. My money would be on a shorted battery and if it overheats it's possible for it to explode. Watch for any signs of ballooning side case on the battery and disconnect it if this happens. Do NOTHING around it without safety glasses.

Converter is broken. Or battery is bad. You need to give us more information in order to make a more qualified guess.
