Big horn ordering question

As you guys might have notice from other posts, I am looking at trading my diesel pusher for a fifthwheel. I have had good luck with Montana's but the Bighorn's have also caught my eye. The local Bighorn dealer is a Campingworld. I have purchased accessories from them but don't know how they are with customer satisfaction as far as Rv sales and service after the fact.
I am looking at the Bighorn 3160EL and since there isn't one on the lot, they gave me a build sheet to spec one out the way I would want it ordered. Most of the options are self explanatory but some are not.
Is Goodyear G rated tires worth $2323 when it comes with G rated tires?
There is a 12.25X3.375 upgraded brakes with E-z lube axles for $1549. They are 8000# axles but do not change the GVWR
any input about both Bighorn's and camping world purchase experience would be appreciated.

The roof lamination process is completely different from the way the sidewalls are laminated. Heartland has been doing this since 2009 and I have not heard of one single problem with these roofs...ours is just fine. The.one thing you will notice they are a little bit noisier when it rains...

I would see what kind of price u can get from Holmanrv.com on Bighorns. Also Jeff Couch's RV Nation would an other Big Horn dealer that a bidding war could be started, and if a Cedar Creek may be desired Couch's also carries them.

Just for price comparison for you, but I have been looking at this linked unit at an RV dealer in North Dakota.

2014 Landmark Savannah.

They offered it to me for $73,500.

Guess I missed it, as it is now marked as sold, but hopefully this will give you some pricing information that is useful.

Another thing that I question is the laminated roof. How is this been holding up? I hear the word lamination and I think of de lamination. I've seen too many coaches with side wall de lamination, I can only imagine this problem on the roof.

Big Horns come with Sailun G rated tires. They are proving to be an acceptable substitute for the G614 at a much lower cost. Look on the Heartland Owners forum and see what owners have to say about them. In my opinion the 8,000# axle upgrade on that size trailer is not needed. If you want better brakes spend a little more and have disc brakes installed. You will be happy with a Big Horn...but I'm not so sure about Camping World.

We bought a Big Country from CW in Akron OH. We did have a warranty issue and also some regular maint done. We were happy with the whole buying experience and service work. The guys in the service dept were really great and one guy went out of his way to get us something they didn't carry but he was able to get and install. I have recommended them to several people. We had such a horrible experience with Hufnaggle here in PA and Winnebago that left a bad taste but CW has sure changed that.

Good for you. Glad you had a positive buying experience from CW. It appears that there a few CW stores that have good customer service and sales people but it is the exception not the rule:(

I must have had a bad dealer because my 2013 Landmark Full Body Paint was a night mare from the day I brought it home brand new. Everytime I turned around something else was tore up or broke. I traded it for a 2015 Montana about 6 weeks ago and no problems at all.

When we bought our 2011 Bighorn the was a list of unadvertised options. One of those was an up grade to Goodyear G tires. The option was only $500 then. It came in with out the Goodyears. Dealer had local tire dealer swap em out. Said they scratched a couple of wheels. Went and looked and I couldn't even tell from 2 foot away. Tire company gave me a check for $500. Free Goodyears!

Back in 2010 I bought 4 17.5" aluminum wheels complete with center caps and lug nuts with Michelin XTA 215/75R17.5 tires (rated 4,805 lbs @ 120 PSIG) mounted and balanced and shipped to me for about that price. Obviously, I think $2,323 for a mere tire upgrade is absurd!

By the way, I used these wheels and tires to replace my 16" Goodyear G614 RSTs on my 2004 Mobile Suites 36RE3. The 17.5" tires were actually about a 1/2" smaller in diameter than the G614s, so they will fit anywhere the LT235/85R16 G614s (rated 3,750 lbs @ 110 PSIG) will.

So to put it in perspective, you could probably buy a 17.5" wheel/tire package, sell the OEM tires & wheels and have a far more capable, worry free wheel & tire setup for the $2,323 you're being charged for the upgrade to G614s.

I got almost 32% off of MSRP on our 2014 Mobile Suites from a dealer ~1000 miles from our home. If Camping World isn't approaching a 25% to 30% discount, it would be worth your while to shop around for other dealers

Rusty

I just did that upgrade - and it was $3200.00 to me.. I would be surprised if anybody actually paid full price for that option from an RV dealer... $2300.00... >??

If you have read many posts on this and other RV forums, you would already know the answer to this question.

My take: The risk is too high to involve Camping World on anything with more moving parts than a folding lawn chair.

X1---Your reference to the "folding lawn chair" has still got me laughing:):):) Right on!!!!
