Blowout issues

I am constantly reading about people that have a blowout on tire mfg such and such or camper mfg such and such and instantly replace all four tires with the current "latest and greatest". Some go so far as to say they are blaming the mfg of trailer for not chipping in on cost under warranty.

I am curious why so many people don't think about road hazards that could potentially cause a blowout? Nails, chunk of cement, pothole, basic road hazard stuff. Why always so passionate about blaming the mfg for something that could very well be just Stuff happens?

How can the mfg of tire or camper not know the driver didn't drag the trailer across a curb causing the damage?

Sometimes I feel sorry for the manufacturers.

Maybe because when people give up on cheap junk ST tires and install quality LT tires they report that their tire issues ended?

Because it isn't road hazards. It's junk tires. The st tires are notorious for blow outs. My son has a Rockwood 5500 lb TT. Two years ago I replaced all the bearings and he took it to Discount for a set of new Carlisle recommended by them. He also wisely bought the warranty. Within a few months he had 2 blow outs. The second summer he had two more blow outs. He doesn't drive over 65 and keeps an eye on the pressure. These are supposed to be the new and improved Carlisles. They are rated at 1,870 lb x 4 = 7,480 and they cant carry 5,500 for a few months?

I bought a new single axle utility trailer rated at 3500 lb. It has some strange name Chinese tires rated at 1800 or so. I was hesitant to pull it across the country but it does have a few advantages that may let them live longer.

I drive 60 mph and never over 65
Always travel during cooler temps
Dont have the side shear forces of a tandem axle trailer
Only loaded at about 2,500 lbs

Fingers are crossed and at about 5,500 miles.

I would never think of pulling my FW without having 16 inch LT's on it.

I've had two blow outs in the past year on two different sets of tires. Both less than 5 years old, around 50,000 miles. Both Michelin LTX M/S2's. Theres a recall on these types of tires but mine weren't included. Bad dry rot on one set. No trouble with other Michelin's over the decades.

Also had a two blow outs years ago on a Carlisle ST on a tent trailer. Back then Carlisle's were notorious for such issues.

We have had one blowout in like the last 30 years. It was a 10 year old Copper tire on our 89 F250, and it had a lot of miles in that ten years.

Getting ready to replace the LT's on our 5er as they are OEM and 12 years old. Just starting to show age cracking around the bead.

Or people having "blowouts" of their spare that's < 2 years old and have never been on the road. Just cheap-@ss junk, for the most part.
