Cameo Running Gear Option

Cameo offered a running gear option which was called " raise axles for 4WD truck". Does anyone know what this involved ? Are there actual parts involved or do they just reposition the axle ? How can you tell if a FW has this option other than the trailer sitting a little high.

The option is mentioned in brochures but there's no explanation of how it's done.

Thanks,
Bill

All kinds of ways to skin this cat.

You could also lower the truck with smaller wheels & not so tall tires. Another is the Lippert Correct Track system for compensating minor wheel alignment issues. Using it raises the trailer by about 3".

How about taller tires for the trailer. Watch out for rubbing under the slides or slide extending gear.

Getting a Carriage of that vintage I would not mind investing some extra money in it for the long haul.

I have the 2011 Cameo. I use a B&W hitch in 2014 DRW Ford F-350 and everything fits perfect. Not saying you don’t need to lift. Thought about getting newer trailer and realized there are very few trailers built like the Carriage products. Ours still looks new in and out.

Thats right....exactly how Carriahe and Lifestyle referred to the option.
I towed my 2011 Cameo and current 2014 Lifestyle LS36fw (direct carryover from Carriage/Cameo.
I towed both perfectly level with GM trucks so you'll be good.
On a side note, dont confuse 2017 and later Carriage and/or Cameo fivers with the original. Absolutely no connection or comparison.

Thanks for the info gentlemen.

I saw the option on a 2011 and 2012 Cameo brochure. I'm currently looking at a 2011 34sb3 model. My 2015 Chevy 2500 4 WD sits up pretty high so I think it may take some adjustment to get a good, level ride height and enough of a gap (6") between the bed rails the underside of the FW.

Thanks again !

I think Bill is asking about the New NON Carriage Cameo...not the old original Cameo.

The best way to lift the trailer is to build a 2" x 2" subframe and add the original suspension below this.

Yes, I had a Cameo and now a carry-over from them.....Lifestyle. We exercised that option after taking delivery of our Cameo and ordered our Lifestyle from the factory with it.
NO parts are involved. In the case of solid axles rigs, its simply which set of spring hanger holes are used. The lower set of holes (closer to the ground) raises the rig by about 2 inches to provide a more level attitude for those towing with 4wd trucks.
