Camping with a 5th Wheel in Yellowstone Park

Does anyone have experience with camp site availability in Yellowstone Park? According to the Park web site it doesn't appear that they can accommodate anything of size. I have a 35 foot 5'er and my truck is 20 feet. We have camped in Yellowstone in small rigs before and I swear I remember seeing a lot of larger 5th wheels parked in the camp grounds.
Thanks for any any input.

We opted to stay outside the park on the north side, in Paradise Valley. We stayed at Yellowstone's Edge RV Park and entered the park via Gardiner.

We've never stayed at Fishing Bridge, but have driven through and opted not to stay due to the tight setting. For those that say it doesn't matter, or something like that, because they are not there most of the day, think again. With any vacation, you'll want a day or two of rest between all that touring and staying at Fishing Bridge, may not afford you that type of comfort. We've stayed at Gros Ventre, Colter Bay, Bridge Bay, and Grizzly RV, Baker's Hole, West Yellowstone KOA in West Yellowstone, and even Red Rock RV. Our favorite is Baker's Hole outside the park. We opt to accept the driving to and from, in order to have a more relaxed home base.

Fishing bridge isn't that nice but very convenient. It's tight but really no big deal as we were sightseeing all day and just sleeping and eating there.

We stayed at Fish Bridge and found it kinda tight in our 34'ft wheel. Stayed at Colter Bay in Grand Teton and liked that park a lot. Its just a few miles out of Yellowstone.

Hey SkiSmuggs! We love Gros Ventre. Stayed there multiple times. I'm not sure when you were there last but they do have many sites with both water and electric. I remember some years ago we stopped by on a trip to check it out and the rangers told us the only electric sites were handicapped but no more.

We took a full day from there through Yellowstone and actually saw most of the easy access sites. Saw the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, the Geysers (including many of them erupting for us) and went all the way up to Mammoth Hot Springs. It was a 13 hour day but we did it with no stress.

OP, we stayed at Fishing Bridge with our 34' double slide and it was pretty tight. It worked for a base camp but it's definitely not a place to set out any chairs or tables, etc. We won't stay again.

I agree with a previous post. There are nice RV parks not far from YNP. You are closer to amenities, more things to do and actually sights to see other than the park. Examples, Quake Lake, Virginia City, Beartooth Highway. We stay most of the summer in Livingston, MT and loveit.

We stayed at Fishing Bridge last Fall for the full hook-ups plus reservation ability. Had a rough time getting into my site plus I had to tie back some tree branches to open the door. We were slide to slide with our neighbor. The check in lady called the place 'Walmart with hook-ups'. Disappointed at first but realized we were out enjoying the park and were there only to sleep. I agree with the post about Colter Bay.

We stayed at Fishing Bridge last summer with our 39' five slide Montana. Tight but doable. Very close to your neighbor. One night I thought someone was on our roof. Turned out to be the kids playing in their camper behind us. You need to make reservations way out and ask for the large camp sites. We made reservations a year out. If we had to do it over again, I'd go to Colter Bay at Grand Teton National Park. Lots more room and closer to other amenities.

Bridge Bay for room to get around with your rig. I've seen them in there, but we had a small travel trailer when we stayed there.

We stayed at Fishing Bridge with a 37' - - 102"wide with triple slide. Tight, but very doable. Neat spot and very convenient.

Our 5er is 31' and we stayed in Madison CG last summer. Call Yellowstone and they might be able to assist with avoiding the Fishing Bridge parking lot; 307-344-7311

We stayed in Grant and Madison when we went a few years ago. We were there in the first 2 weeks in July and made reservations on the drive out there. It was snug with our 33' fiver , but not so much that I don't think a 35' wouldn't fit. I'm thinking we probably used 30' for our declared length. My model is a 285, so that means 29 feet right? Round to 30. I usually underreport at State and National Parks and overreport at private campgrounds.

Takes some maneuvering at times to squeeze in, but we always fit!

Hasn't bit us yet.

Need to call and they will set you up. Very limited spots for larger RVs but you should get in.
Click and stay is only good for 40' IIRC.
