How are you waxing the top 1/3 of the front cap?? Step latter isn't close enough with the curved front, too far a reach to wax. Works OK on the sides, they are straight. Extension latter would leave marks.

I used to get on a step ladder to do the bug scrubbing, washing, and waxing. I've also backed the pickup up to the nose for more stability. The past couple of years while in Florida I've hired a detailing service to wash & wax the whole unit. It cost $11/foot, or $374, for the service. I believe it is well worth the cost and do it once per year, usually in mid-March before heading back to Michigan.

If/when I get motivated enough to wax, and believe me itโ€™s needed.....Iโ€™ll stand in the tractor bucket, while the wife positions the bucket. Iโ€™ll be sure that she understands that I โ€œdo not haveโ€ a life insurance policy!

Back of my truck with a short step ladder works well. Shorter distance to fall, as long as its in the bed of the truck :B

After many types of wax used over the years, had a friend tell me about Griots Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax, not the cheapest I have ever bought. Got it from Amazon, comes in a kit with an applicator , and micro fiber buffing cloth. Have only done part of the front cap, its the only wax I have used that put on an even shine, and not shadowy so to speak. Actually the only one I have used that did bring out a decent shine. I am sure there are other products that will do the same, but this seems to work as well as anything I have used.

I purchased some of this ( Lucas Slick Mist) today. Havenโ€™t tried it yet. Is it any good and does it last? Thanks

Various ways as already mentioned. Sometimes I do my waxing in a boatyard & have access to A frames & long boards to put between them.

Hi:
Look at getting a 6ft. scaffold. You should then be able to reach.
I have one for my trailer and it works great.Use it to do the whole trailer. They're very reasonably priced and much safer to use.
Just my opinion.
Good luck.

Not likely, as height is not the problem. Even laying an extension ladder against the cap, makes a long reach to top of cap, but may work. For mine, like others said, I get up on roof to do top part, and tall step ladder for rest.

I start on the roof of our RV waxing the front cap on my belly using my DA polisher, then onto a ladder in our PU bed, then moving the ladder on the ground and boy is it tiring work even with my machine

Try doing the top from the roof. I did my cap off a ladder I had in the bed of the pickup, backed up to the face of the cap. Iโ€™m short or otherwise I could reach the whole thing from the ladder in the bed.

Try putting padding on the extension ladder?
Can you lay on the roof and reach far enough to apply the wax? That's what I do on our Southwind.
I get most of it from an 8' step ladder.
