Columbus Auto Leveling System

We are close to buying a new Columbus 320RS and I was wondering if someone could tell me if the auto level system is hydraulic or electric. I am considering this option but I am curious which system the factory is using. Thanks in advance.

Might want to double check. I had a Jayco dealer tell me the same thing but when I talked to a Jayco employee at the RV show he told me that it was electric and not hydraulic.

Just FYI the latest electric system is lipperts ground control version 3 with auto rear jacks (no pins to pull). I have version 2 and like it very much but v3 seems like a nice upgrade with faster levelling.

Thanks Wildcat for the info. I will see the unit on Saturday for the first time. It is a Columbus we are going to purchase but it sounds like it will be with the electric leveling system. By the way, who do you sell for? I know, I know, it is probably against the rules to answer that, pm me if you want.

Then they aren't selling you a Columbus.

Columbus does not offer a hydraulic leveling system.

I sell them everyday and there is no option for it.

We have a Columbus 320RS and have the Lippert 6-point Ground Control II electric leveling system. At setup, you do do have to manually pull pins and lower jacks legs a few inches off the ground before starting auto level. When you get ready to leave, you auto retract and then raise all jack legs and secure with pins. The system does a good job of auto leveling and with strong arms we are pretty solid. I believe the Level Up system is fully automatic.

Not the same camper. But love the auto system on my Heartland Key Largo. And will never own a unit without it again.

I'd say go for the auto level system. I can't address Columbus but I wish we would've "sprung" for the 6 point level up system on our '11 Montana. We bought our unit (new) off the lot but I wish now I would've done just a bit more home work and been more educated on leveling systems. It's just an added feature, is it necessary? No but I haven't run into one person yet that regrets having auto level.
I wish we had it, oh well maybe there'll be a "next" trailer and if so that one WILL have it!
Good luck with your decision.

Columbus does not use any hydraulics on their trailers.

I have the Lippert 6 way levelers on my 320RS, and they are electric, and work fine.

Get the Strongarm stabilizer package, and it sets up solid as a rock.

There are benefits and downfalls to both systems. If you have the hydraulics, and it gets a leak, nothing works. No slides, no jacks. At least the electric ones can be worked manually if needed, as each jack has a motor and override on it.

All the shake and wiggle comes from the axles, suspension and tires, so it really doesn't matter that they are not at the rear of the trailer.

The cost you mentioned, 2k, is what the option for the hydraulic 6 point system cost on my trailer,

I have a 6 point Lippert Hydraulic system and its the best thing since indoor plumbing. You unhook push the auto level button and stand back and watch. Your traveling partners will be mad at you. The jacks are so much faster than the electric.

I took a look at the quote again and it says 6 point leveling system so I will assume it is the hydraulic. We are going to look at the unit this Saturday. It is an extra 2k for the leveling system. The have the identical unit without the system so at least I have a choice.
