Cut Noose Cap to Raise Pin?

Has anyone ever cut out the fiberglass nose cap to raise the pin box? In order to make up for a nose high fiver.

I still say take your truck to a good steel fab shop and have them cut the hitch into the picture frame adapter. There is your 2".

I could do that my self, but don't really want to go to that extreme if I don't have to.
So cutting into your 5er isn't extreme? :?

I have about 8" of clearance from the bed rail to the bottom of the 5vr. I can not adjust the hitch to lower it at all, Super Glide. I can not raise the pin box any higher because it is tight up against the fiberglass nose of the 5ver. The pin could physically go up another set of holes if I cut into the fiberglass noose to take a piece out of it as wide as the pin and 1-1/2" high so the pin box can slide up.

Can't get any pictures until next week end now.

Looking for a leak if you cut into the nose cap!!!
Start thinking about raising the 5er, or lowering the back of the TV if possible.
Can you get a shorter pin box?

I was thinking it would be cleaner and easier to do the fab work.

The big fiberglass cap that covers the entire front of a 5vr. Has nothing to do with welding.

It will have something to do with welding if there is no adjustment left on the mounting bolts of the pin box.

I think he means "nose" cap. But he did say 'nose high.'

I don't understand what the process or the goal is.

It seems that you'd run out of bed rail clearance, if needing that extreme measure.

It's usually far easier to just switch the bolt holes on the pin box and/or the hitch.

If you have an extremely high truck bed rail problem, cutting out the nose to raise the pin box, doesn't help. The issue is if the trailer tilts to one side (say the left side wheels drop into a pothole), the overhang on the trailer will hit the bed rails if there isn't enough clearance.

Or were you suggesting to cut away the overhang above both truck bed rails?

Picture would help! Maybe you just need a different pin box? Chris
