Cuts in Goodyear G614 Tires

Does anyone know what the side wall thickness of these Goodyear LT235/85 R16 G614 rated tires are. I scraped a rock wall and have three surface cuts less than an 1/8" Deep X 3/4" inch long on one tire. I don't think they look like they will be a problem. The tire is not loosing any air. These tires are only 3yrs old and only have about 12K miles on them. They still look like new since I keep them covered when not in use.
I was wondering if a couple of little 1/8"DEEP X 1/2' long cuts would weaken the structure of the tire since I don't know how thick the tires are to begin with. I really don't know much about tires and hope there is someone out there that does and can help with a decision
on weather to replace the tire or can I live with it for a couple of years?? Any help would be appreciated.

Find a new dealer. Side walls are steel plies. Chris

Regroovable means the rubber under the tread grooves is thick enough to be carved down another 32 of an inch or two. I feel in the real world you are better off with thicker tread areas to make the tires less prone to punctures from rocks and glass. It has nothing to do with the sidewall.

One dealer told me that the G614's have Kevlar belts in the side walls to reduce lateral movements and helps keep the trailer going straight down the road.

While it may be on the cautious side, my 614's say they are "regruvable", which tells me there is plenty of rubber there! One post suggested that the OP take the tire to an authorized tire dealer, for a professional opinion, to me that would be the wisest choice!

If you can't see the steel inside the sidewall, let alone =broken= steel, I'd say you're good to go until you need to replace them from age...in another 2-3 years.

Why not take it to a GY tire professional for them to look at? Chris

I think I'd be thinking about replacing them...much less expensive than a blow out and RV damage! I scuffed a set on a 3 axle toy hauler going through a toll booth, 100 miles later had 1 flat then 50 miles later had the second flat with RV damage, luckily I had two spares. Both on the side where I scuffed the sidewalls. New tires all around when I got home! Always carry 2 spares too!

One of the things that make G614's so great is that they have steel belted sidewalls as well as the steel belted tread. But if you end up buying one new tire, you could keep the scuffed up one for your spare????

I would think you are probably OK with keeping the existing tires!
