Disc brake update

I have approx 2000 miles on my newest upgrade of the titan disc brakes + MorRyde suspension. Other than my Trailer Saver BD5 hitch, this has been the biggest difference in comfort as well as confidence in braking. The Drum brakes that came off were deemed useless as grease had blown out the seals in 3 of them. Disc brakes should be a standard option and should be demanded by the consumer. I just wish I would have done it sooner. It will be a bummer in the next 3 years when Im looking for another rig and will need to start over with all the mods.

Thanks guys for posting the info on disc brake availability for 15" wheels.

I just never thought they would fit.....

There goes another $1,500 ๐Ÿ™‚

I put Kodiak on my 3500# axles with 15" 5 lug wheels. Excellent system. I pieced together my own kit.

Best thing I did for my 2008 Cougar by far. My drum brakes where horrible, never could get the brake controller adjusted right, always fiddling with it. There was always grease leaking on to the linings.

Too bad my 2018 can't get them, my new drums are smaller and have 15" rims too small for the conversion. My old camper had 12" drums and 16" rims ๐Ÿ˜ž

Kodiak makes disc brake kits for most all trailer systems, 3500 lb and up in 10 and 12โ€ disc for all lug patterns

Why will you be looking for a new rig in 3 years?

I want a bigger bathroom + kingsize bed + double pop out at the the kitchen area. Im at about 35' total and don't want to go much bigger than approx 38' total.

Once I committed to disc brakes. I also committed to keeping trailer for the long term.
I will mod and adjust my current unit accordingly. But I don't want to start over with a drum brake RV.

It's sad that some of these larger RV's are still equipped with drum brakes. Tires, suspension and brakes are not noticed by most when looking at RV's.

It does take some experience to realize some of these things, and sadly the RV industry takes advantage of that. I am sure 30 year ago when you started if that is when you did , there were things you were looking for, but I doubt very much tires suspension ,brakes were at the top of the list.

I towed boats ,and trailers many many miles, with not a lot of concern about tires, and such, luckily never had any issues, never worried much until I stepped up to a heavy fifth wheel, and started researching things, that I learned about brakes ,tires etc.

In conclusion, big reason for Sailun tires ,and Andersen hitch :B :B

Ditto...I think the stainless is for boats. It was recommended to me to use the Dacromet.

I had the Titan disc brakes installed about a year ago and what a difference. After the second Dexter seal greased a drum brake the change was made. A big difference maker!

This year I installed the MorRyde SRE4000 and Monroe Gas Magnum Shocks, another difference maker. Just got back from a trip and canโ€™t believe the difference with how much smoother it tows, especially over bridge joints.
