You want the vent going as straight as possible, or slightly down. Use a 4" hole saw. Do a exploratory hole from the interior to check for frame, wires, etc. use blue tape on the outside, and drill away. Easy peasy.
I wouldn't want the hole this close to the end cap, most vent's have a cover over them, It would be hard to put a cover over the vent demonstrated in this picture wouldn't it?

Question: Do you know if your 5er ALREADY has a "place" marked out to put a dryer vent in place? 5er in my sig, had a place in the area where I now house our washer/dryer Splendide combo already in place, all that had to be done was line that up with the cut through the gelcoat.....I had mine done at Camping World (free install), over a year and a 1/2 ago and it's worked perfectly...but again, when I removed a piece of paneling out of the way, I could see my washer/dryer hook ups, electrical and water, as well as drain and also was a place pre-cut through first layer and it was re-inforced to add vent and cover through wall and onto outside surface , But outside surface did have to be cut...
just wondering if you might have an area "designated" as I did, for vent to pass from unit to outside?
he didn't want to go thru the side wall for some reason. these units do not have a lot of spare wall/floor space to do odd things.

We have a 2013 sierra fifth wheel and we are wanting to install and washer and dryer.
Ive seen somewhere they make a vertical vent for a rv. Does anyone know where or if they seen them anywhere?
Instead of drilling thru the gelcoat to get a vent out i wanted to come out under the pin box area.
