Dryer vent install

We have a 2013 sierra fifth wheel and we are wanting to install and washer and dryer.

Ive seen somewhere they make a vertical vent for a rv. Does anyone know where or if they seen them anywhere?

Instead of drilling thru the gelcoat to get a vent out i wanted to come out under the pin box area.

You want the vent going as straight as possible, or slightly down. Use a 4" hole saw. Do a exploratory hole from the interior to check for frame, wires, etc. use blue tape on the outside, and drill away. Easy peasy.

I wouldn't want the hole this close to the end cap, most vent's have a cover over them, It would be hard to put a cover over the vent demonstrated in this picture wouldn't it?

No, the vent cover fits perfectly. No issues and works great.

Wow lots of responses! Thanks.

Well our fifth wheel does have a place for both. Washer and dryer. Ive talked to the sierra rep this weekend at the greensboro rv show and he says they prefer to come out under the pin box area.

I like the idea better also as for not messing up the lamination.

I think we are going to order the splendide artison series stackable set.

Our floor plan is the 355re with the set in the nose or the closet.

Thanks for all yalls help!

Question: Do you know if your 5er ALREADY has a "place" marked out to put a dryer vent in place? 5er in my sig, had a place in the area where I now house our washer/dryer Splendide combo already in place, all that had to be done was line that up with the cut through the gelcoat.....I had mine done at Camping World (free install), over a year and a 1/2 ago and it's worked perfectly...but again, when I removed a piece of paneling out of the way, I could see my washer/dryer hook ups, electrical and water, as well as drain and also was a place pre-cut through first layer and it was re-inforced to add vent and cover through wall and onto outside surface , But outside surface did have to be cut...

just wondering if you might have an area "designated" as I did, for vent to pass from unit to outside?

he didn't want to go thru the side wall for some reason. these units do not have a lot of spare wall/floor space to do odd things.

I saw that, was just asking if the OP had a "designated area" to put the vent through the side wall, if he doesn't, then my question is moot...but if he does, I would opt to go that route....

To the OP, the longer the vent pipe, the more you have a chance to clog it up with lent and possibly cause a fire...most dryer vent's in RV's aren't that long...

Contact the dealer or manufacturer. There are probably specific places dryer vents are suppose to be installed on your exact unit and there may even be exact types of vents you can use.

As full timers we are on our second fiver. Each has had dryer vents coming out the side with zero issues. The first fiver had it on the DS and this one has it on the non DS.

JMHO if it were my RV. I would contact the manufacture. Check for wires or major support you may be drilling through. Then drill the hole. I don't like to be just lucky I missed something. Or un lucky and went through a major support or wire.

Drilling thru the gel coat is a non issue,I taped the area to be cut ,drilled a hole, used a good fine bladed jig saw,Installed chrome vent, caulked,1 hour job at most.
