Feedback on XLR and Fuzion

The wife and I are looking to upgrade from our current tahoe transport to a new, bigger unit. We have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 models...

2017 XLR thunder 380amp which now has a king bed and a residential shower with a seat vs last year's model.

Pros over Fuzion

1. I like the opposing couches layout better. But not as good of viewing angle of the tv...

2. Felt more spacious in the "living room"

3. Haven't heard many bad things about the XLR brand.

4. Has a higher GVWR be 2k lbs.

5. All of the holding tanks have a much greater capacity.

Pros over the XLR

1. TV position

2. Garage Tie downs look to be VERY SOLID. They are welded to the frame from what I understand. (This is big deal to me from past bad experiences)


I really like both units, but I am leaning towards the XLR. I will be carrying a XP1K rzr so I want to know the tie down anchors are STOUT. I have had some let go in the past.

The XLR claims to rate the tie downs at 5k lbs just like the Fuzion, but the Fuzion tie downs definitely look more stout.

I would love to hear feedback from owners of both brands about everything. Especially about the tie down anchors in the garage of the XLR. I have no concerns about the Fuzion anchors.

If any of the buttons do the opposite of what you expected, then the lines are reversed.

Thanks for your input. That was one of the first things I tried. But the good news is I did get it figured out this morning. "They" installed the rear sensor backwards, so it was thinking it was leaning the opposite way. Luckily it was easily accessible and I got it flipped around. Tested it out, all is well.

The XLR does come with the new zero gravity ramp door. Not sure how I feel about it yet. It is a neat concept, but I never had an issue with the original style of doors. Mine has an electric actuator that unlocks the door. I like K.I.S.S. There is a pull cord inside that you can use to release the door if the electric actuator goes out. I do like that so you dont even have to go outside to open the door. However, with my RZR in the garage, Im not sure how accessible it wil be. I dont like however, that the latches are at the top of the ramp door. The reason I dont like that is because it makes it more difficult to get the doors to latch all the way. I had to get on a 6' ladder to push the top of the door hard enough to get it to latch completely. Now that the seals have compressed some for a couple of days, I was able to latch it completly without using the ladder. Hopefully that stays the norm.

The XLR did not come with the new stairs that you speak of. Personally I am ok with that. The only upside to the new kind of stairs that I can think of, is that they did seem very sturdy. However, for me they would be more of a pain then useful. For example, when my camper is in storage, I dont have enough room between the camper and the wall of my barn to be able to pull those big stairs down. Therefore I wouldnt even be able to get inside the camper. With the standard type of fold up stais, this is never an issue. There are lots of times when I need to get into the camper quickly and dont need the stairs, so I dont unfold them. With the other kind, you always have to deal with them to get inside. They are very easy to use though, so not a huge deal.

We did like the Fuzion 417 quite a bit. The one we looked at had 3 15k A/Cs from the factory. Most other manufacturers give you 3 13.5k's whenever you order 3 A/Cs. The bar stools, I liked the concept, but felt that they would eventually destroy the island from use. My wife really liked them though.

The 2 floorplans are very similar. The XLR 375 Amp won out for us for a few reasons.

The floorplan is much more open,
We liked the colors better,
Will be easier to fit larger TVs,
We liked the couch's better,
Dual pane windows,
Everything in the camper has switches (read very bad things about the Jensen in command system that the Fuzion uses),
The awning covers the slide which I believe will help keep the sun from heating it up as much,

The MYRV only shows the leveler app on it, so not sure if I am supposed to be able to use it to turn on the lights, awnings, etc. They weren't sure either, they said they changed things up this year. Since it has all the normal switch panels, they are thinking it is only used for the leveling...

Luckily there is a camping world about 30 mins from me, so they should take care of the issues. Also they will be installing a 3rd A/C in the garage as well as another awning over the rear side entry door. For some reason this unit did not get ordered with that one. Hopefully the camping world will do a good job on those installs and make it all look good. That is my biggest fear.

We really like it so far. Although we have only stayed in it one night, in a wal mart parking lot...

Hopefully it proves to be a good solid unit.

Figured I would give everyone an update. We ended up buying a XLR Thunderbolt 375 AMP. I couldn't deal with the residential refrigerator so we had to choose a different floor plan. We almost bought a Fuzion 417 but decided we liked the XLR interior designs that much better, so decided to hold off and find a XLR somewhere.

I'm with Y-Guy on that one as I'd rather have function over fluff! As for you energy mang system, the only time that really comes into play is if your using all 3 AC systems, so I'd just not use the garage AC. At least that's the way it was explained to me. I think I would opt for a 7000 onan so I wouldn't need all those extra electronics if they would offer that option. The RV factory offers that if you get 3 ACs, don't know why the others can't.

LOL at fluff (massage couch) over function (fridge) that's a bad direction to go.

As for the energy management - I've had one in our RV for 10 years, it's great if you're in hot weather and trying to balance ACs and other things like microwave/water heater.

But that's something only you can decide.

I did locate one and they are going to give me a good deal on it however it has the energy management system with the three air-conditioners and the MYRV multiplex system. Neither of which I really want to two possible issues that could happen. I guess I'm just not sold on the electronics running all those systems with no back ups or switches. Maybe I'm just paranoid?

Also it does not have the G rated tire package that I was wanting.

They said the reason for the change was due to a bigger couch in the slide and the RV fridge would no longer fit. They upgraded the couch to one that has the heaters, lights, and massagers.

I know others have commented about having cooling issues with an RV frig when its installed in a slide even though there are many others that say they've never had an issue so maybe due to issues XLR has had with cooling of that model they've opted to only use the res frig.

Personally I wouldn't buy one with a residential frig unless I planned on being hooked up to shore power every time I stopped. I think the convection micro is ok as that's the way a lot of RVs are going now days and its suppose to replace the oven. Not denying what your saying about the 380 but I'd also look and see if they have another model like the 380 but with an RV frig, Fusion does that, they have one model with res frig and another one with RV frig, both the same floor plans. I just checked their website, you might look at the 375, its nearly the same other than the kitchen is reversed and garage is 6" longer but it appears to have an RV frig. On the 380 they show the res frig as an optional upgrade indicating the RV frig may be standard so who knows. Nearly same on everything else.

You will never see 4.5 days, my brother just put one in his motorhome, and tested on a 6 battery house bank of Trojans
