Front Leg Cross Braces vs Tripod

Been using a tripod on our 39 Denali and it does a decent job of getting the wiggle out. But is the cross braces that attach to the front legs any better?

I installed the Winfield's several years ago and they do a good job of stabilizing the fifth.
Simple bolt requiring no holes to be drilled.

About 1000% better!
Figuring out how to sell my tripod, as we installed a set of JT Strongarms last year, and far superior to a tripod.
You can get a set of JTโ€™s from PPL Motor Homes for about $230.

Same here, wish I had done it sooner.

This is one of the only pictures I have of my JT Strong arms. The diagonal bracing keeps the 5er from wiggling.

If you want a rock solid trailer with no movement and have a tripod see my reply above.
Let google be your fried in looking for JTs or other brands of cross brace type stabilizers.

Bought the JT Strongarms and threw out the tripod. The JT Strongarms work, the tripod, not worth the fuel to haul it around.

I have the Winfield Cross Brace system. I works as advertised. I also use wheel chocks, and with some help from Google, cut 2 2X4's and a rachet strap on the rear. Works like a charm.

During a walk in our rv park I saw an Okanogan fifth with a straight up and down adjustable Bali brand stabilizer on both corners. This fifth had a strong open frame at that spot so it probably works great. I know him so I will ask when he comes back. He has a dealership up North in BC.

Almost every park we have been to, we have walked around and found at least two people selling their tri pods, cheap! I have never seen a J.T. Strongarm, (The criss cross braces), for sale anywhere! That has to tell you something!

Thats where I picked up my 1st steel tri pod from a person in camp that wasn't smart enough to understand the back of the trailer needs help with sway. I'm 75 and that old steel relic was heavy so I sold it and found a all aluminum bi-pod on craigslist. Now life is good.

I use a aluminum bi-pod pin stabilizer that can only prevent side to side sway at the trailer front and for the trailers rear I use the BAL telescoping stabilizer that stops side to side/up and down movement.....and adjustable chocks between the tires that eliminates fore and aft movement in my 32' 5th wheel trailer. I'm rock solid as my medical condition requires.
I've got about 130 bucks invested through CL.

I asked the question to an owner of the open road model fifth last year about how did he like the Jt's. Not worth fooling with them was his answer. You bought the fifth used I asked. Yes was the response and I knew he didn't understand how to adjust the jt's. He would try how I told him next time he used the fifth.

chevman or another Larry. Winfield product isn't close to the Jt's as the one I saw was just on the front.

You donโ€™t just level and tighten the clamps, once very near level like 1/4โ€ to 1/2โ€ nose low, set rear stabilizers as you would normally and tighten JTโ€™s, now tighten the front JTโ€™s and lift that 1/4โ€ to 1/2โ€ this loads all the arms, and 5er is solid.

Well I guess this is an agree to disagree thing. I removed my factory installed Strongarms when one got stuck. I didnโ€™t think it was worth fixing because they didnโ€™t seem to do anything.
