Fuel station hose

Anybody else have the very stiff fuel station hose, first use of the year, till its used a few times beginning of the season.

It then seems to get flexible again, till next year again, then it gets very stiff and not very bendable after summer storage. But run some fuel thru it a few times and it seems to get its flexibility back..?

What going on with my hose..?

Thanks for the replies guys...

The hose is fine now that fuel has been run thru it a few times. Very supple again and no leaks at swivel fitting.

This stiff hose syndrome has nothing to do with hose still full of fuel.
Its so stiff first time of the season scared it will split in two or crack. And the swivel fitting leaks like a sieve first couple times at the start of the season...

My TH sits all summer long till dune season starts in Oct. So 6 months with no use, no fuel in hose and swivel orings. Not sure why it reacts with a very very stiff hose and leaking handle till the fuel softens it up again.

Just did a week at the dunes and hose/handle/swivel is fine once again. Nice and soft and supple, leak stopped 100% at the handle swivel fitting also.
This stiff hose leaky handle has happened every year, beginning of the season.I've owned this TH since 2010 iirr. Just thought others might have have a solution to this...

After fueling something I put the nozzle in the trailers tank, lift the hose up and (with the pump off) squeeze the nozzle. Fuel pours out and air goes into the hose. Coiling goes easy after that.

Anyone added a filter or water separator to the hose?

Shutting the pump off and releasing the fuel left in the hose, helps with re-coiling it. 2nd that!

I'll add that when I'm done using my fuel I shut the pump off angle the hose and nozzle towards the ground and release what's left into a can for my fire starter.

I went with a 10' hose and a swivel at the nozzle. Wish the hose/pump compartment was larger.

Shutting the pump off and releasing the fuel left in the hose, helps with re-coiling it.

The extra length allows me to fuel toys behind the rig instead of having to be sure I have room on the back side. The more flexible hose and swivel at the nozzle make it much easier to use.

Great idea on the longer hose! 😉

I've not had that issue so far. I don't use the fuel statio a lot, and we full-time, but it has been flexible every time I've used it. It's 45 degrees here now and I just filled up the bike and it was fine.
