Full Body Wrap

I am thinking about getting a full body wrap on my 5er, has any one had this done. It costs about the same as a paint job, but I think it should last longer?? We have been looking at new 5ers and cant really find what we want and we like what we have, we already redone the inside a few years ago, new table and chaires removed the couch etc.

Couple of things. Agree that Imron is a very good paint. We used it on fire trucks and it held up well. I have the dreaded Keystone front cap fade. The rest of the 5er is great including graphics. I may look into a front cap wrap.

Given the price being the about the same I would choose paint over a vinyl wrap. One thought since the front caps are always the part that needs the most attention it could make sense to have it done with a vinyl,wrap and paint elsewhere.

Veebyes is right on the paint quality. I forgot to mention that, With each of the places I talked with I asked that the quote incude Imron as Veebyes suggested. We previously had custom painted a fiberglass speedboat with this and the result was fantastic.

Our Alpenlite is only a couple years younger than your 5er. It is indoor stored for almost 7 months each year. The gelcoat still looks almost new. It gets waxed with a high quality marine wax once a year. The front cap twice a year because of the bugs.

Like you we are really happy with the trailer. Have yet to find a floorplan that we like better. We have spent plenty on upgrades, like you, each year & figure on $2000 or so for something or other every year.

Time is taking its toll on the cheap quality graphics used so the painting question has come up a number of times. Do we? Don't we? How about just new better quality graphics?

The dilema goes on.

If we do paint there would be no cutting corners on paint quality. It takes the same labour no matter the quality of paint. I'd be looking at marine paint, preferably an epoxy paint.

There is a 2 part marine paint called Awlgrip. Fantastic paint. Much higher gloss than gelcoat & lasts far longer. Another great paint is Imron (Dupont product). If you are going all in might as well go for the gold paintwise.

I had looked at this 2 years ago before buying our current Cougar High Country that had the high gloss gel coat. I like this very much, almost as good as the full body paint on our previous TT. Anyway, one of the TT we were considering did not have colors or a finish I liked so I checked into wrap vs paint options here in Ontario Canada. I contacted 3 different wrap shops and they all said the same thingand quoted within $500 give or take. $6k-6500 for the wrap. Only limitation seeming to be the hight of the TT needing to be less than 10' wall height. For paint the price rose significantly, and varied more. Again I shopped this time at 4 different shops. You will need to find a shop that does highway trucks and busses non of the average body and paint shops I contacted said they were able to paint a TT in a booth other than the truck and coach places. Were they hard to find? YES! and you have to travel. quotes ranged from $8k being the lowest to $13k at the top end. there were however some differences between these quotes. the lowest would use vinyl graphics over a base color with just a 180gr sanding to prep for paint and the top end was for sand prep high build primer sand again, paint, and painted graphics.The TT we were looking at painting by the way was 32'.

I would go for paint if it was me. I am interested in the replies you get on this.

The paint would look nicer and last longer IMHO.
