Garmin RV 895 and Fifth Wheels

I just ordered the Garmin RV 895 for travel with our fifth wheel. During setup where you enter all the vehicle and camper information, it says for fifth wheels "Note: This trailer type is not available in all areas". It does not say that for any of the other camper types. Given that a tow behind could have the same length as some fifth wheels, I don't know what to make of that statement. Anyone have information on this? I understand that these units aren't 100%, and you have to do your due diligence when planning. I will back up/confirm the routes with RVLife, etc. I just don't get the specific call out for fifth wheels. Thank you all.

You guys might check out the Route 1 low clearance database. Has over 8,000 low points throughout N America. Simple POI d.b. that's compatible with all "standard" GPS systems as well as Google Maps, Apple Maps =and= several on-board nav systems. You can get U.S. only, Canada only or all of N America. $99 but there's a "perpetual" 25% off coupon so it's $74 and change. Lifetime updates, too.

for years, traveling to and from, here and there, also with a Gramin. Garmin wants me to buy a new one so i can add the app. Anyhow, on a recent trip, hills, tunnels etc. I typed in on the puter highway clearances and grades etc. for the state and route we were on. Example when in Laevingworth Washington, the hwy we planned west towards Whidbey Island. an interactive map shows up with clearances. you just put in the height you want to avoid and it gives you anything less than that. Also grades of hills as well like in Arizona comapring grades and lengths of grades.
works well for me. Good Luck, Be Safe ! ! !

May have something to do with turning distances. Fifth wheels are computed from king pin where tongue draggers are from ball mount.

I think that is referring to the height of a 5th wheel not the length. In fact, for a given length of the trailer, a 5th wheel would be shorter than a travel trailer because part of the 5th wheel is above the truck instead of behind it. Ex. A 30 ft. TT would be longer than a 30ft 5th wheel if you measured from the front bumper of the truck to the rear bumper of the trailer. It would certainly be taller though and perhaps there is not enough info on bridge clearances etc. to recommend routes for a 5er in those areas.
Could be wrong although I can't think of any other reason they would specifically mention 5th wheels.
