Generac will not start / smell of gas

Over the weekend I ran the Generator for about 2 hours all of a sudden it just quiet like it ran out of fuel has 1/4 tank in it. Tried to restart over and over and started to get a strong gas smell (seems like the carb is flooded). I let it set over night and still nothing. Any help would be great. Model # 4700-0

Sorry mods I original posted this in the Class A forum.

Oil level is good, I glanced over the manual i'll take another look at it.

motorhomes yes, trailers no.

Every absolute statement has an exception. :B

My trailer uses a single fuel tank, the generator can't draw below 1/4 tank. The fuel station can draw to empty.
I'll dump in 4 gallons to get it off that 1/4 mark and see what happens makes sense to me.

I believe it does right around the oil filter.

Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

I would start with the cheapest possible fix. A new plug. They don't fail often but they do fail just the way you said it stopped. I always carry a spare for any small motor I have.. Good luck.

Check the easy stuff first. Remember, you only need three things to get combustion.

Air - already been mentioned

Fuel - check

Spark - first check to make sure the boot didn't come off the plug. If not, check for spark

I had the magneto go out on my generator in less than a year. Hopefully that's not your problem.

If you have spark, spray some starting fluid through the carb. If it starts time to rebuild the carb. If it doesn't start and you have spark...ummm...probably time to bring it into the shop, unless you have knowledge of tearing down small engines.

There are various kinds of toy haulers; is yours a 5th wheel ?

Check the air filter/intake to be sure it hasn't tried to ingest a piece of paper or plastic......or the air filter itself.
